  • Chocolate Puma Many beautiful years have past between their first monster hit Give It Up and now. Born as first generation house producers, a complete musical revolution has taken place right in front of Zki & Dobres eyes: From the first simple sampler, to a complete digital studio built into a laptop. DJ Zki & Dobre; who are they and what are they up to? Two simple but pressing questions which are not easy to answer. The Dutch producers Zki & Dobre- respectively René ter Horst and Gaston Steenkist are responsible for so many productions in all kinds of styles under so many different names that they are extremely difficult to categorize. Their studio remains their favorite place, but as DJ’s, the clubs is where their music is being tested and where their music should be played out loud! Great examples are I Wanna Be U (2001), A Star Is Born (2003) and Always And Forever (2006) which they released under their alter ego Chocolate Puma. Lets go back in time a little. For sure a special mission from outer space has helped faith a little to ensure that these two all-round musical guys bumped into each other in the 90s. Together they produced their first hit; The Good Men “ Give It Up”. René: We are still very proud of Give It Up. It was created on a small mixer and mixed on broken speakers in Gastons bedroom. Its a unique record that people still sample and play. The whole world knows that record! Give It Up brings them more then just international dance floors. Their own career goes through the roof. From 1992 till now Zki & Dobre released records like there lives depended on it. In total over 200 releases and 50 remixes for the likes of Roger Sanchez, Stereo MCs, Britney Spears, Copyright, Bob Sinclar, Fedde Le Grand & Funkerman and Laidback Luke. As DJ’s Chocolate Puma is privileged to be able choose from all these hundreds of records to make sure they maintain and create a unique sound. The true nature of their inspiration will always be a secret to them but Zki & Dobre have the gift of always reinventing themselves. Some highlights so far: the classic Vallee de Larmes (1993), the Jark Prongo project including Movin’ Thru Your System (1998) and Sweet Little Thing (2001), Chocolate Puma with the floor fillers I Wanna Be U, A Star Is Born and Always & Forever to name a couple. They also gained success with projects like Basco, Klatsch! and Tomba Vira. One thing is clear though and that is that everything Zki & Dobre create stands for quality. Today a whole new generation appreciates the music of Zki and Dobre without knowing the full history of it.
  • Darren Emerson Darren Emerson - Thanks to Carl Cox for a brilliant night at Space, Ibiza alongside my good mates John Digweed, Yousef & Christian Smith…
  • David Guetta David Guetta - With 2009’s multi-platinum One Love, two-time-Grammy-winning artist/producer/DJ David Guetta cemented his status as a genre-busting hitmaker whose in-your-face fusion of electro and hip-hop beautifully warps the pop landscape. Now, with his fifth studio album Nothing But The Beat, Guetta builds on that breakthrough momentum and takes his decades-spanning career to a frenetic new level marked by bigger hooks and more brain-bending beats. A star-packed powerhouse showcasing today’s hottest hip-hop and R&B artists, Nothing But The Beat backs up its high-gloss pop with ingenious electronic stylings that deftly flaunt Guetta’s DJ pedigree. In a nod to the driving force behind Guetta’s crossover success, the double album (due out August 29) also offers an all-instrumental disc designed to turn new listeners on to the hypnotic sound of house music. One of the most wildly anticipated albums of the year, Nothing But The Beat comes hot on the heels of the rush release of its first smash single, “Where Them Girls At” (featuring Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj). Already his fasting selling single to reach gold status in the USA, the dizzying and deadly catchy “Where Them Girls At” marks a one-time return to the straight-up club-anthem sensibility of Guetta’s “Sexy Bitch” (the 2009 monster hit that moved 5 million units worldwide). “When I listen to the radio in the U.S., every song sounds like ‘Sexy Bitch,’” says Guetta. “The urban dance thing has become huge. Now I have to push it because my sound has become so popular. It’s a challenge, but I like that.” For help in blowing up those musical boundaries, Guetta assembled an A-team of collaborators sure to thrill enthusiasts from all ends of the pop spectrum. Nothing But The Beat features no fewer than 17 guest artists, from hip-hop royalty (Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Timbaland) and game-changing rappers (Minaj, Lil Wayne) to R&B superstars (Usher, Chris Brown, Akon) and breakout pop acts (Dev, Jessie J). Rounded out by Jennifer Hudson, Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, Sia, and Guetta’s “fellow mad scientist” Will.I.Am., that roster was carefully culled to guarantee a filler-free album destined to deliver hit after hit. “I produced about 40 songs to get these 13 records together,” Guetta explains. “I wanted every song to be huge, phenomenal.” Not only boasting massive pop appeal, Nothing But The Beat bears a broad, adventurous scope of sound that reaffirms Guetta’s role as a pioneer of the electronica/urban music hybrid. To start, the album blasts off with the dancefloor-ruling trinity of “Where Them Girls At,” “Little Bad Girl,” and “Turn Me On,” a triple threat that quickly proves Nothing But The Beat to be a high-energy hit machine. Riding off the feel-good frenzy of “Where Them Girls At,” “Little Bad Girl” pairs Ludacris’s masterfully bombastic flow with the smooth, sexed-up vocals of singer/rapper Taio Cruz—all while repurposing classic house-music elements (lush synth loops, crisp beats) into a radio-ready knockout. On the glorious and gut-punching “Turn Me On,” meanwhile, Guetta grants Nicki Minaj her stunning debut as a full-fledged songbird. “Everyone knows she’s the best female rapper right now,” says Guetta. “I wanted to take her somewhere she’s never been.” The track brilliantly contrasts Minaj’s trademark madcap rapping with disarmingly tender vocal work, complementing her persona-switching performance with a slick barrage of erratic beats and spaced-out effects. Ever experimental, Guetta transports his collaborators to previously unexplored sonic spaces all throughout Nothing But The Beat. On “Sweat,” for instance, Guetta remixes one of his most prized DJ records as a stark, synth-heavy electro-hop track that spotlights Snoop Dogg’s strikingly sleek vocals. Elsewhere on the album, guest artists match Guetta’s ingenuity with their own brand of beamed-in-from-another-dimension whimsy and weirdness. Just as “I Can Only Imagine” alternates shimmering, buoyant beats with wildly skidding synth, the track continually trades off Chris Brown’s warm melodies with the lyrical mischief-making of Lil Wayne (whom Guetta dubs “a big genius”). And on “I Just Wanna F,” Timbaland and Dev play a deliciously dirty version of the alphabet game while Guetta lays down a densely textured groove that makes this futuristic fever dream one of the album’s most irresistible moments. At the heart of Nothing But The Beat is a selection of soul-stirring songs that reveal the spirit behind Guetta’s gorgeously crafted beats. With all the passion and power of an old-school dance anthem, “Night Of Your Life” shows off Jennifer Hudson’s heavenly voice and remarkable range. On the slow-building “Without You,” Usher opens with achingly vulnerable vocals that soon swell into a soaring, sweeping performance ultimately backed by delicate piano work. “It’s possibly the biggest track on the album,” says Guetta of “Without You.” “It’s a monster—so big, so emotional.” In a one-two punch, Guetta follows “Without You” with the equally wistful opening moments of “Nothing Really Matters”—then turns it all around and elevates the Will.I.Am-led track into an escapist party jam. “I love playing with both worlds,” says Guetta, noting the bold disparity between the “crazy electro-beat and the super-sophisticated string arrangement” on “Nothing Really Matters.” To close out Nothing But The Beat, Guetta taps into the otherworldly vocal prowess of Australian indie-pop star Sia. Ethereal yet anthemic, “Titanium” enchants the listener with trance-inducing beats and a lyrical intensity unrivaled on the pop scene today. Switching gears for the 10-track accompanying disc, Guetta reconnects with his electro roots and primary fan base. “I didn’t want people who’ve been following me for years to feel left out,” says Guetta. “I feel like if I lose my original fans, it’s over. Without those people that inspire me, I’m just another pop producer.” From tripped-out techno to drum-driven dubstep experiments to raw and riotous dirty house, the instrumental element of Nothing But The Beat illuminates Guetta’s virtuosity as a DJ—an art he continues to hone and expand even as he racks up chart-topping records. That evidence of Guetta’s remaining firmly rooted in club culture will no doubt satisfy longtime electronica devotees, while at the same time ushering a whole new audience into the dance-music underground. “Because I’m a DJ first, I wanted to use my success to introduce newer fans to what my culture is about and where my inspiration comes from,” Guetta notes. That sizable success isn’t nearly limited to Guetta’s work as a recording artist and DJ. In addition to selling more than 5 million albums worldwide since his 2001 debut, Guetta acted as producer on the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” (the highest-selling digital release in music history). Along with his two Grammys (one for his remix of Madonna’s “Revolver” in 2011, the other for his remix of One Love’s “When Love Takes Over), Guetta took home the Best DJ, Best Producer, and Best-Selling French Artist prizes at the 2010 World Music Awards. And having kicked off his DJ career as a teenager in his native France, Guetta also partners with his wife Cathy on promoting duties for the legendary F*** Me I’m Famous dance parties (held in locations like Ibiza, Miami, New York, and Las Vegas since 1995). “It doesn’t matter if I make a beat that’s going to be a song on the radio, or if I make a record that’s meant to please DJs,” Guetta says of continuing to bridge the gap between electronic and pop on Nothing But The Beat. “I always just think of making people dance—that’s my first priority.” NOTHING BUT THE BEAT due August 29th Vocal Side 1. • DJ Roog DJ Roog Producer / DJ / Remixer / CEO - 2010 started with a bang for Roog on New Year’s Day. Roog played all over the Netherlands for the festivities the night before, headlining the best clubs the country has to offer. Amazingly, Roog managed to get to the airport in the morning after a hectic night, to start 2010 with a gig in Angola on 1st January! - 2009 saw Hardsoul Defected in the House – Amsterdam 09. What an honour! Only the very top electronic artists get to turn in tracks for this heavyweight UK label, and the boys made the most of it, turning in a double disc compilation of exclusives and a whole slew of their own stunning original productions and remixes. - A special Housequake festival took place this year, with Roog and Erick E playing an amazing 5 hour set. The event was sold out with 7500 people, again confirming Housequake's supremacy in dance circles. - 2009 saw Roog and Erick E turn in another prestigious performance - Housequake was invited to do the first set of the year in Rotterdam at the Erasmusbrug to thousands of clubbers. To have the honour of playing a vast outdoor gig is truly one that will live in the memory for many years to come. The duo rocked the place, impressing a wider audience than the normal club-going public, confirming again their status as two DJs at the absolute pinnacle of their abilities. - The same year saw Roog play at Pacha in Ibiza for Subliminal & Swedish House Mafia. He ends up going back to back with with US superstar Erick Morillo - this is very special (Mr. Morillo never does b2b with anyone) What an honour, and what a night! - Roog makes an eagerly anticipated trip out to the Far East. He is booked to play at Simon Dunmore's Defected night in Tokyo. Roog's popularity continues to rise in Japan, prompting him to undertake the long journey to satisfy his many fans there. - Late 2009 sees Roog (along with his brother Greg) headline a massive event in the RAI Amsterdam conference centre. Roog is no stranger to taking centre stage at such vast events, and brings his world-class quality house sound to the main arena at the ID&T event Dirty Dutch to widespread acclaim. The sight of a packed room with hands aloft confirms that musically and artistically Roog still undoubtedly has his finger on the pulse of dance music culture. - NYE 2008 saw Roog play the last set of the year at the Erasmusbrug in Rotterdam. The event is attended by 20,000 people, who braved the cold night to attend the gig to see Roog working his magic on the decks. The event is specially chosen to be broadcast live on national television, a huge honour for any DJ, let alone a credible underground artist, and further evidence of the respect and popularity the nation has for the hard-working Hardsoul frontman. - The second Housequake compilation by Roog and Erick E is released early 2009. The success of the first edition (complete with DVD) meant the duo simply had to go back into the studio to produce a follow-up. A total of 17 tracks squeezed into a hot disc accompanied by innovative and fun marketing see the CD sell thousands. - In the studio 2009 sees hits such as Dancin' With You with Ron Carroll and Let Ur Spirit Go on Soulfuric Trax USA. These releases again bring the studio love to global dancefloors, with widespread radio and club play for both tracks - 2008 was another major year, with Roog launching Hardsoul Live with his brother Greg for a stunning set outdoors at the Rockit festival on a boiling hot day. Roog also plays at Defected @ Pacha in Ibiza, and also at Ministry in London - This was also the year that productions went even bigger. Tracks such as Michael Canirot & Hardsoul‘s ‘Feel The Spirit’ and Hardsoul’s ‘Nothing Better Than Your Lovin' on the boys own Hardsoul Pressings push the boys profile even further. - The duo are inundated for remixes, turning in slamming interpreatations of David Penn feat. Daren J. Bell – Revolution and a remix of Ida Engberg smash hit Disco Volante. - The 2008 release Greg, Jeroenski & Roog – ‘Your Mind is Twisted’ on the R&G imprint was huge! Aside from wdespread radio play and club success, the track wis licensed to Ministry of Sound (UK) and Cyber (France). The track enters the Dutch charts, and the video (addressing the problem of binge drinking with young children) is misunderstood and banned on Belgian music channel TMF. - Roog and fellow Dutch superstar DJ Erick E teamed up to form Housequake and consistently sell out every club they perform at. In 2006, Holland’s dance magazine ‘Release’ devoted seven pages to the phenomena. The Housequake CD/DVD made it to the No.3 spot in the Dutch compilation chart. For more info www.housequake.nl - In 2006 the brothers started a new label called R(oog) &G(reg) Electronics for music that wouldn’t necessarily be suitable for release in the Hardsoul Pressings label and requires an alternative outlet. - Roog and his long term booker Anouschka Erhl from Holland’s Risk Agency started their own DJ agency called Beyond Bookings in 2005. More info at www.beyondbookings.com - Hardsoul/Roog were nominated for breakthrough DJ of the year 2005 at the International House Music Awards. The sound of Love and Dedication (United/Zomba, 2000) was the first compilation under his own name and was critically acclaimed by Dutch audiences as well as Dutch music press. The follow-up was released in 2003 on his own Hardsoul Pressings label and became one of the biggest selling house compilations of 2003. The third installment of the series was released late 2005. - Roog is playing an astonishing average of 225 gigs a year in and outside Holland. - Roog played the main stage at Sensation in the vast Ajax Soccer stadium to 40.000 people in 2001, which was broadcasted live by TMF and Radio 538. This event elavated him from an underground house talent to the Dutch DJ super league. - Roog was voted No. 1 house DJ of Holland for three years straight by Dutch magazine Basic Groove, was voted Holland’s most popular club DJ in 2004 by Nieuwe Revu magazine and was the highest ranked house DJ in the Dutch DJ Award poll of 2003, 2004 and 2005. - Away from music, Roog graduated from law school with a specialisation in Intellectual Property. - At the beginning of the 1990’s he fell in love with house music, the music that he heard while clubbing at Amsterdam’s legendary clubs Roxy and It. - Prior to that, the story started with a young Roog buying records at the tender age of seven in the late 1970’s. Throughout the 1980’s he started playing at school parties, birthday parties and weddings.
  • Erick E Erick E DJ / Producer - Erick E (born as Erick Eerdhuizen, September 20, 1969 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands), is a well-known DJ and producer. He is known for his energetic and danceable mix of grooves, as well as his enthusiastic interaction with the crowd. Biography Erick Eerdhuizen It’s 2011: ever-active Erick Eerdhuizen is passionate, dedicated and energetic when it comes to working on his career as a DJ, composer and producer. After winning ‘The Dutch DMC Championships’, in 1989, Erick was the official Dutch representative during the World Championships at The Royal Albert Hall in London. He fell in love with a new music genre and consequently made considerable contributions to the upcoming Dutch house culture, creating for example house classics such as ‘Pancake-Don’t Turn Your Back’, released on record label WORK. He established his name as a DJ more firmly during the mid-nineties, landing the saturday residency at the legendary Amsterdam Club RoXY. There, his infamous SWET nights caused long waiting lines at the door and it pushed Erick’s popularity to new heights. He frequently graced the decks at the main stages of large festivals such as ‘Dance Valley, ‘Sensation’ (international residency), ‘Mysteryland’, ‘Day At The Park’ and ‘Extrema Outdoor’. International clubs such as NOW & WOW Rotterdam, Amnesia Ibiza, Rex Paris and Catwalk Barcelona invited him repeatedly, knowing Erick would deliver a full house. With an artistic brain and an insatiable lust for music he managed to gain success with international releases, top 10 chart positions, an impressive series of mix compilations and number 1 hit records. Now, a decade into the new century, he’s mostly known as DJ Erick E and he considers himself to be fortunate: Erick won the people’s vote and is leading the number one spot at ‘DJGuide.nl’ for the last 3 consecutive years. In 2010, DJ performances had changed drastically and Eerdhuizen found himself longing for a different approach. A strong desire to return to a basis, founded at Club RoXY, kept growing. He craved for longer sets (‘all nighters’) and a more intimate playground, where he could perform a mix of ‘warm tech-house’ and ‘danceable techno’. The introduction of E5H – meaning Erick E 5 Hours – gave him the chance to control the night from the first until the very last record played. He took the challenge and conquered a demanding crowd during his first E5H gigs at the ‘Amsterdam Sugar Factory, Bunker NDSM and Westerunie’. Now, the E5H-tour has officially started around smaller venues and popstages, playing ‘De Effenaar Eindhoven, Paard van Troje The Hague, Mezz Breda and Patronaat Haarlem’ amongst others. • Fedde Le Grand Fedde Le Grand Community is, without doubt, one of the biggest DJs in the world. His skills both inside and out of the studio are the stuff legends are made of. Whether he’s demolishing legendary State-side festival Coachella on his debut appearance; racking up a straight hat-trick of Beatport #1’s in the overall charts with Autosave, Control Room and his massive remix of EBTG’s Missing; or touring most of the known world devastating clubland as he goes – le Grand is the name on everyone’s lips. But like any superstar success story, our hero had to start somewhere… No biography of the Dutch artist could pass without mentioning 2006’s Put Your Hands Up For Detroit. It took one of Holland’s most successful national DJs and propelled him to truly giddy heights of international stardom. The track was number 1 in five countries – Spain, Russia, Finland, Bulgaria and the notoriously hard to crack UK chart – and scooped a raft of gongs including Best Underground House Track, Best Breaks/Electro Track, Best Breakthrough Solo Artist at the IMDA and, Club Banger of The Year at the 6th Annual Club Awards in Miami. His name was everywhere, from radio and print to TV and online media. The world woke up to the blistering and dynamic production work of Fedde le Grand, and he hadn’t even scratched the surface of what was to follow. Releasing through Flamingo Recordings, Fedde cemented his reputation as a leading force in house with tracks like Let Me Think About It, The Creeps, 3 Minutes To Explain, Let Me Be Real, Back & Forth and Rockin’ High. The music flowed and he dominated the upper echelons of dance charts everywhere. Remix requests came pouring in from the biggest stars on the planet: Will.i.am, Robbie Williams and then Madonna came knocking on Fedde’s door asking for a le Grand-style reworking of her hit Give It 2 Me. It wasn’t just the commercial house sound where Fedde excelled. As early as April 2006 he began experimenting with his darker, more minimal tech-house sound. Tracks like Take No Shhh, Aah Yeah, the Bad Ass EP, Just Trippin’, F1, Amplifier, Pink Bird and The Joker won him an elite group of fans and confirmed his position as one of the most versatile producers of our time and a true master of both the underground and over ground sounds. In 2009, the world waited as news that Fedde was taking time out to produce his first studio artist album began to filter through. Output was a breath-taking debut album where Fedde pulled in his loves of house, electro, hip-hop, funk and jazz and fashioned a piece of work that was both incredibly personal and dance floor dynamite. Collaborations with Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, Rob Birch (Stereo MCs), MC Gee, Mr V, Mitch Crown, Camille Jones, Ida Corr and more provided Fedde with a rich and diverse pool of vocal talent to wrap his ideas around. Successfully released to over 60 countries around the world, it yet again proved Fedde could consistently push himself past his previous successes and was hungry for more. Just as important, Fedde has proven that he belongs to the best DJ’s with his outstanding mixing skills to match his musical releases. His energetic performances are the stuff turntable legends are made of, his deft and devastating action behind the decks often flooring observers as he moves at lightening pace; twisting this sound, dropping that beat, chopping and changing between tracks until the dance floor is throbbing to his ministrations. Fedde le Grand is titanic in the DJ booth, as the biggest clubs and festivals the world over pay testament to time and time again. His Takeover concept, unveiled in 2010, saw Fedde take complete creative control over his performances, defining the music policy, guest DJs, even lighting and visual décor to fulfil the Dutchman’s vision of the perfect party. From world exclusive residencies at Ministry of Sound London and Pacha Ibiza, to roadblock events in all four corners of the world – LA, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Denver, Tampa, Miami, Texas, Las Vegas, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, South Africa, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Romania, Ukraine, Montenegro, Turkey, Tunisia, Spain, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Greece, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Belgium, Macedonia and more – the planet has fully capitulated to Fedde le Grand’s Takeover. The constant traveling and hard work more than paid off in October 2010 when he soared eight places up the influential DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Chart from 29 to 21. With fans everywhere clamouring for more and more of le Grand, it would not be an unwise bet that the Flying Dutchman rises even further up the Chart come the 2011 results. As a creative producer, an inspirational DJ, and an artist in the truest sense of the word, the passion, integrity and sheer weight of individuality and originality that Fedde brings to the table sees him take his place as one of the most influential electronic pioneers of modern times. Only one-question remains – if this is what Fedde le Grand has achieved so far, what more is there to come?
  • Firebeatz Since storming onto the Dutch music scene in early 2008, Holland based duo Firebeatz have swiftly merited a reputable and solid name for themselves from the start! Youngsters Tim and Jurre met each other at the School of Arts in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where they discovered their musical chemistry and decided to join forces! In the summer of 2008 they released their first productions including the track 'Speak up' and shortly after, the follow up 'We're Going Back'. Both tracks received lots of airplay on several Dutch radio stations like Radio 538 and SLAM!FM. With their distinctly unique sound which boasts infectious bass hooks, insanely catchy vocals, compulsive beats, groove and drive, this house-duo quickly caught the ears of certain famous DJs such as Fedde Le Grand, Roger Sanchez and Funkerman. Quickly after this, they got booking requests for great festival gigs in the summer of 2009. With performances at Rockit Festival, Free Your Mind Festival, Zomerkriebels Festival and some nice residences they quickly made a name for themselves in the Dutch club scene. In 2010 Dutch label Flamingo Recordings, which needs no introduction, picked up this young duo and signed tracks of the boys on Flamingo and sister label Blackbird. Shortly after, Firebeatz collaborated with JoeySuki and the track “Hidden Sound” was born. This track received massive support from the likes of Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Dirty South, Laidback Luke, Chocolate Puma and Chris Lake, which resulted in a climax when “Hidden sound” reached #7 at Beatport. Firebeatz started 2011 with a release on Sneakerz Muzik: “It’s Like That 2011”. Instantly picked up by Steve Angello, this club bomb exploded in every chart & club around the world. “It’s Like That 2011” reached #1 in 4 different countries! Looking ahead, Firebeatz will continue to conquer the dance music world, with new upcoming original productions on SIZE, Defected, CR2 and Nervous. Collaborations with Chocolate Puma and Funkerman, kick ass DJ performances and remixes for exciting names like Flo Rida, Timbaland ft. Missy Elliot, Snoop Dogg, Firebeatz have proven they are on a run to the top!

  • Gregor Salto Music is a life necessity for Gregor Salto, who has been dj-ing and producing extensively since his early teens. Never satisfied with just one particular sound, Gregor constantly seeks to cross existing boundaries and take on new challenges. That’s how he could rise to the top as one of Holland’s most successful dance artists, while simultaneously using his own label G-Rex and side projects like Unite to further widen his musical scope. Young Gregor was struck by the house virus when he first heard Royal House’s classic anthem Can You Party at a school dance. He then decided his life wouldn’t be fulfilling without making beats of his own. After some years of experimenting on his dad’s Amiga, Gregor debuted in 1994 with 'Pangaea' on 'Fire & Ice' a sub-label of Amsterdam’s legendary 'Outland Records'. Many other releases followed, mostly in the club house and trance genre, under monnikers like Luna Mora and The Beach House Brothers. But it would take another decade of hard work before Gregor had his first big break. Can’t Stop Playing, a catchy house tune produced with Dr. Kucho, skyrocketed to the Top 40 in 2004. That was the start of Gregor’s ongoing roller-coaster ride through Dutch clubland, dj-ing anywhere from the smallest of backwater barns to the vastest of innercity superclubs and headlining most of the country’s leading festivals. Gregor has even extended his fame to most European countries, the Middle East, Africa, South America and the Caribbean. He obviously knows what it takes to rock a dancefloor – something he’s still proving every day of the weekend from behind the decks. Tracks like Mas que nada, Lambada 3000 and La Diosa Misteriosa seem to underline Gregor’s identity as a latin house artist. Yet his interests have always extended to a wider variety of styles. Gregor loves to incorporate organic influences into the digital world of electronic music – genres like soul, samba, jazz or salsa. His own label G-Rex has proven to be the perfect platform for more adventurous endeavours. For his forthcoming debute album (due end of 2010) Gregor has even produced a traditional reggae track called Unite, featuring Antillian singer Junior. Through his label and through numerous studio collaborations, Gregor has come across many talented musicians. To stage this diverse group of artists and at the same time showcase the different aspects of his own musical identity, Gregor has launched Unite. During these long, latin, jazz and soul flavoured d-jam sessions, everything seems to come together. Because however versatile Gregor’s music, all of it carries the same distinct and captivating flavour.
  • Laidback luke Laidback Luke (born Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen, 22 October 1976 in Manila, Philippines) is a Dutch DJ, producer. He was voted #46 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ list in 2008, before jumping to #27 in 2009 and jumping up 10 places in 2010.[1][2] Laidback Luke grew up in Australia and made his name as a graffiti artist before turning to making music. He has worked with artists such as David Guetta, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Junior Sanchez and played throughout Europe and North America as well as shows in Japan and Ibiza. He has released two studio albums: Psyched Up (1998) and Electronic Satisfaction (2002) as well as a successful mix album, Windmill Skill (2003). • Laurent Garnier Laurent Garnier has been making the planet dance for 25 years. And, for all this time, his huge energy has seen him grooving behind record decks, bouncing up and down behind studio equipment and leaping around radio studios. He is a multi-faceted artist whose impact on the music scene is far-reaching. But above all he is a DJ, a true DJ: transformed by music, passionate about the crowd. Bodies move in a trance on the dance floor, minds elsewhere. Yet he is also a discoverer of old and new sounds, and has an amazingly rich musical culture. He spends most of his spare time sifting through old vinyl in record shops, following the most obscure leads on the Internet and listening to every single piece of music he is sent. Music, the pulse of our planet, is his Holy Grail. One of the pioneering DJs of the dance music scene, Laurent Garnier experienced first-hand the euphoria of the Acid House movement in Manchester. He then went on to Wake Up and shake up Paris nightlife, from La Luna to the Palace, not forgetting the Rex Club. As one of the leading lights in French dance music at the end of the 1980’s, he then spread his message across the planet, from raves to warehouse parties, clubs to festivals. The Excess Luggage 5-CD collection sums up the somewhat hectic life of this globetrotting DJ whose antennae are permanently ‘tuned-in’ to sounds from around the globe, current trends, and the music of the next generation. At the beginning of 2011 Laurent Garnier was the only Frenchman, amongst 35 international DJ’s, to be shortlisted for “best DJ of all time” by the English magazine Mixmag. The latest in a string of accolades for this ‘turntable connoisseur’ whose incredible sets use both Techno from Detroit and beyond, and mixes in hints of Jazz, sweltering Disco, heart-warming House, African grooves, and Jungle and Dubstep basslines. Musical eclecticism is at the heart of Laurent Garnier’s commitment to radio. At the beginning of the 1990’s, Laurent Garnier got behind the microphone, playing records on Radio FG, Maxximum and Radio Nova, where he remained a vital element for the next 18 years. Uncovering rare records, selecting new sounds and promoting new trends, Laurent Garnier has found a great source of satisfaction in radio broadcasting. To the point when, in 2003, he created Pedro’s Broadcasting Basement (http://www.pedrobroadcast.com/), his own webradio that is open day and night and can be accessed across the planet. And as if that was not enough, for the last two years he has been presenting his own weekly radio show It Is What It Is which is currently broadcast in France (Le Mouv), Belgium (Pure FM), Switzerland (Couleur 3) and Mali (La Chaine 2). Laurent Garnier is an artist on the move. He is tireless in his enthusiasm and is bursting with new ideas and projects. As well as the demands of his DJ-ing and his radio shows, Laurent Garnier has also evolved into a well-respected music producer. His first big hits (Acid Eiffel and Wake Up), both soundtracks to the explosion of dance music in France, have paved the way for a series of albums that are both elaborate and multi-faceted. From the Techno undercurrents of Shot in the Dark to the ambition of Tales of a Kleptomaniac, the electronic odyssey of 30, the maturity of Unreasonable Behaviour, and the visionary escapism of The Cloud Making Machine. In the space of five celebrated albums, Laurent Garnier has embarked upon a remarkable journey. A journey marked by some incredible electronic music anthems, loved by both DJ’s and the public alike: Flashback, Crispy Bacon, The Man With The Red Face, Back To My Roots, Gnanmankoudji, It’s Just Muzik. His discography is, of course inseparable from the story of F Communications, the label that he created in 1994 with Eric Morand and which brought to the fore producers such as Mr Oizo, St Germain, Jori Hulkkonen, AlexKid and Scan X. All of this musical journey is written down in the book Electrochoc that Laurent Garnier and the journalist-writer David Brun-Lambert wrote together and came out in 2003. In this biography, Laurent Garnier tells the epic story of electronic music through his experiences and memories. Electrochoc was a publishing hit and was translated into other languages including Spanish, German, Japanese, Russian and Croatian. It is due for digital release in English in 2011. In addition, Electrochoc is the inspiration behind a screenplay that is currently being written for cinema. Aside from his albums and singles, Laurent Garnier is also a composer for the cinema, television and theatre. He wrote the music for the film SDF Go Home, the animated film Globi and the Stolen Shadows and in 2010 made the music for the French television show Groland. As for the stage, Laurent Garnier has composed the music for contemporary dance choreographers Angelin Preljocaj and Marie-Claude Pietragalla. During the summer of 2010 Laurent Garnier worked for a second time with Angelin Preljocaj composing the music for the ballet Suivront Mille Ans de Calme with the dancers from Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre. All of these projects were wonderfully inspirational experiences that have had a huge impact upon him, both as a musician and as a human being, continuing a far-reaching career that is founded upon commitment and passion. Whether behind the decks, or a radio microphone, Laurent Garnier has managed to achieve his childhood dream: sharing the best possible music with other people. And little by little, Laurent Garnier the DJ has evolved into an accomplished musician, whose talents are widely recognised. One of his strengths is having understood how to take his own music on to the stage as live performance. From the Olympia in 1998 to the Tales of a Kleptomaniac tour in 2009/2010, Laurent Garnier has reinvented himself as an important live artist, defending his music and his vision as well as his sense of immediacy and need for improvisation. Surrounded by experienced musicians, Laurent Garnier lights up the stage like a DJ does a dance floor. During his most recent tour of about 100 concerts performed over a period of 18 months, he seduced different audiences from the Nice Jazz Festival, Benicassim, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, to I Love Techno in Ghent. Following on from the tour, the LBS concept – Live Booth Sessions or Loud Bass & Samples – was launched in the autumn of 2010. This concept has a smaller live format consisting of three people: Laurent Garnier (DJ & machines), Benjamin Rippert (keyboards) and Scan X (machines). It offers a new platform for expression and improvisation, playing with Techno, Jazz, House, Dub, Breakbeat and Dubstep. This experimental live music project marries the organic and the electronic, with the flexibility of the DJ and the intensity of the live performance. Specially created to match the feverish atmosphere of a club, LBS work the dance floor into a frenzy with marathon sets. Five hours non-stop! It is a new way for Laurent Garnier to approach the dance floor…in the same spirit of giving…in close physical and emotional contact with the dance floor….as always…it’s is the story of his life. • Mason Dutch duo Mason make the kind of records that often defy being pigeon-holed and given a label. Their productions have been destroying dance floors to tearing it up the World’s charts since 2006, laying the foundations for more forward thinking music. It’s not about making records for a particular set of Djs or trendy scene but just good honest music! Using Iason’s classical violin training coupled with a love of diverse music and a hi-tech apprenticeship in a ring tone sweatshop, together with his studio and live partner Coen, a man fixated with ancient synths and playing in rock bands and a mean vocalist to boot, the Mason boys are now forging their own unique path. This duo has the musical arsenal required to make everything from filthy late night dance club bombs to daytime radio anthems. These Dutchmen are unpredictable in both what is played in the club and what is created in the studio. The Mason sound takes a great understanding of melody and fuses it with technological know-how sheer musicianship and dance floor savvy. It is dance music for the thinking man, but not so clever to be alienating and dull. Mason’s critically acclaimed debut album, ‘They Are Among Us’ was released this Spring and features some interesting styles and flavours as well as guests such as legendary NYC rappers (Run) DMC and Kurtis Blow and hip hop UK hero ‘Sway’. Also renowned singer-songwriter Matt Hales ( AKA Aqualung) , Wonky pop pin-up Sam Sparro and former Moloko chanteuse Roisin Murphy add their magic to this eclectic line-up. ‘They Are Among Us’ was Mixmag’s Album Of The Month and has been described as “One of the freshest electronic albums to drop this year” by numerous blogs. There has been a Worldwide hit, ‘Exceeder’ and successful releases under their belt for Data/Ministry Of Sound as well as numerous releases and remixes for labels like Great Stuff, Skint, CR2, Mute and Pickadoll . Mason continue to garner respect from above as well as under ground. The boys have recently lent his sound to remix on numerous artists including Moby, Gabriella Cilmi, Hadouken, Rex The Dog, Evil Nine, Robyn, Zoo Brazil, Disco Of Doom and Jesse Rose. 2009 saw the launch of Mason’s label, ‘Animal Language’ and regular parties in Amsterdam under the same name. Ten double A-side releases down the line and the imprint is making fans with a huge array of DJs , bloggers and music-heads. Support has come from far and wide with the likes of Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Erol Alkan, Aeroplane and A-Trak all behind the imprint. The label recently graced the cover of dance music bible DJ Magazine with a CD of previous and new releases. Mason don't like to take things too seriously mind. Anyone listening to the de-mix of Exceeder being replayed by a brass band will recognize a sense of humour in the music. Track titles such as Who Killed Trance and Let’s Get Ferretic are also refreshingly tongue-in-cheek and every track on his Animal Language label carries a ‘Refurb’, a re-interpretation in a totally different musical style, be it speed metal, Mariachi or Balkan! Mason have recently been honing a new and fully intergrated sound, light and visual live act. The boys have begun touring the globe in the last few months, performing from behind their specially designed “Baboon Booth” using a mixture of bespoke new technology and real instruments (kazoo, violin, clarinet!) to create a hugely dynamic and uniquely different show. Behind the decks, or CDJs at least, Iason, the dj-ing face of Mason, has honed his craft for over fourteen years since falling for the grooves of early hip hop and spinning in his local clubs. Things progressed to warming up for Global mega star Tiesto at his gigs around the World where Mason also jammed violin to his own and his compatriots sets. The fiddle has since been rested, but Mason continues to rock crowds wherever he plays. He has headlined at some of the Worlds finest clubs and festivals including headlining the massively opulent Sensation White parties around the planet as well as appearing with top billing at festivals such as Dance Valley in Holland and at Creamfields in the UK.

  • Nicky Romero It was January 6th, 1989 when young Dutchman Nicky Romero saw his first light of day. Born and raised in a small city called Amerongen, Nicky developed an interest for music at a very young age. At the age of 6 he hit his first snare drum after joining a marching band and this is where it all kicked off for young Nicky. After saving up for a little while, Nicky obtained his first drum kit and started banging away at it like there was no tomorrow. For the next three years there was only one beat to be heard in the Romero household, Nicky’s beat, practising the drums day and night. Being bored with the drum kit, made way for a brand new set of turntables. Studying and practising his mixing skills were mainly what Nicky’s life consisted of at the time. Already flirting with the idea of making his own music and rocking the crowds some day. When Nicky finished school, the path was clear and the objective was set, producing music became not only a career, but a way of life! The very first musical offerings Privilege and QWERTY by Romero were snatched up by a small boutique label called ‘Once Records’ the ‘Romero sound’ was born. Next to having a few more releases on small independent imprints, there was a remix for Tony Cha Cha and Sidney Samson: ‘Get On The Floor’ that whirled up a storm of publicity. All the aforementioned achievements, left one more aspect of the production game in need of conquering; the bootleg. Producing his own interpretation of David Guetta’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ resulted in instantly becoming the so called talk of the town with thousands of hits on Youtube and posts on various influential music blogs, Nicky made his entrance into the global scene. Releasing ‘My Friend’ really paved the way for Nicky. The track released on Spinnin’ Records shot to a 4th place in the overall Beatport top 100 download chart and straight to the top spot on Dutch portal Dance–Tunes. This success resulting in the worlds top artists supporting almost everything Nicky releases nowadays. People the likes of Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, David Guetta and Sander Van Doorn all often feature tracks by Nicky in their sets. All these accolades make for Nicky being one of the hottest, most sought after producers and remixers on the planet today. With remixes for Green Velvet, Tiesto, Flo-Rida and David Guetta the outlook for 2011 is a promising one. Nicky’s tour schedule for 2011 is also filling up nicely. Getting invited to play Ultrafest during the WMC and a two-week tour in Australia already pencilled in, leaves just enough time to tour the US and travel through Europe rocking the crowds where ever he plays. All this next to maintaining one of the busiestproduction schedules know to man, Nicky Romero has truly entered the top realm within the global dance scene.

Now & Wow, Silly Symphonies, Dancevalley, Off Corso, Prinses Theater, Impulz, Stalker, Wasteland, Mysteryland. • Robaco Bossa Robaco Bossa, winner of Defected’s Best Producer Competition, is a twenty-three year old DJ/Producer from Amersfoort, Holland. Robaco's love for music started at the early age of 11 as a drummer, however, having discovered house music in his teens, the young man started to combine and create his own beats with other instruments. Robaco’s early DJ sets saw him mix up deep, progessive, tech and minimal house, stirred up with a lot of groovy and funky elements. He got the recognition he deserved when he was chosen to perform at some of the best clubs in The Netherlands.. Things got even better for Robaco in the beginning of 2009 when he got his first record deal, with his first release ‘Bounce It Up’ appearing on Roger Sanchez's ‘Release Yourself’ radio show, and subsequently a worldwide audience. His next releases followed suit and his sounds were receiving support from established names in the international dance scene such as Roger Sanchez, The Shapeshifters, Chocolate Puma, David Penn, Laidback Luke, Housequake (DJ Roog & Erick E), DJ Chuckie, Baggi Begovic, Gregor Salto and Youri Donatz to name a few.. Along with his successful Defected track ‘Black Bird’, he has also won a DJ competition in the area of Utrecht (Netherlands) and conquered a residenty at the SLAM!Cafe, hosted by the famous dutch radio station SLAM!FM. He did remix work for Chocolate Puma’s (Zki & Dobre) imprint ‘Pssst Music Recordings’ and other major releases by Baggi Begovic & Groovenatics, Youri Donatz, Josh The Funky 1, Dream City and Dos Palomas Negras, which gave him an internationally recognised name in the dance scene. A new album and several remixes are just a small part of all future plans by Robaco. His own label ‘Bossa Records’ will become reality in 2011 and some other big projects will be announced in the near future. It is a sure bet that the name Robaco Bossa will continue to grow.
  • Roger Sanchez Who is the S-Man? He is the alter-ego of Roger Sanchez, and encompasses any productions & remixes by Roger that have a deeper, darker & more techy-vibe. Already supported by some of the biggeset DJ's around, this release marks the official return of the S-Man!
  • Row Sunshine Hotsenses Records / Bookings - When he was 8-years-old, Row Sunshine, aka Rowan Frijhoff bought his firt vinyl records in his place of birth, Amersfoort. Nowdays Row Sunshine is the face of HotSenses events and is to be seen monthly in Quignon Amersfoort, Quignon Utrecht, Jantjes, Club Lux and Club Lust Utrecht. So what is ther to expect in the future? Well 2009 promises to be a good year, there are 7 tracks waiting te be released the coming months on quality labels like 'Spinnin' Records', 'Made2Dance', 'GrooveMasters' and 'Made in NL'. 'This housefanatic is a fantastic DJ who is able to move every dancefloor to a higher level, and also not afraid to take the crwd into deep funky-techhouse' said by the judges of the 'Corona DJ Contest' in 2008.
  • Sander van Doorn Thought to be a technical and musical genius by many, Sander van Doorn is without a doubt one of the worlds most essential, influential and popular DJ/Producers in dance music today. In very short order, Sander has become a brand synonymous with excellence – both production wise, and in front of the thousands he plays to nightly. He is truly one of the strongholds in dance music, a generation defining artist that reshapes our perception of what dance music can be, and he does it all with that electrifying Sander van Doorn smile. Those with an ear for music have known of Sander for some time now, but 2007 was when the world started whispering “have you heard of Sander van Doorn?” It seemed the secret weapon of so many top Dj’s was out. When Carl Cox stops the music to point you out, telling the nearly 50,000 people “This is one of the best producers in music today, remember his name…Sander van Doorn!” then you can bet the whole world will take notice. And Carl wasn’t the only Sander fan. Armin van Buuren named Sander one to watch early on, and Tiesto championed his productions regularly. Sander seized the opportunities at hand and dedicated himself to a relentless touring and production schedule for the next few years. It was during this time that Sander penned some of his classics. From originals like Grasshopper, Punk’d and Riff, to massive remixes of The Killers (Spaceman), Sia (The Girl You Lost To Cocaine), Robbie Williams (Close My Eyes) and Depeche Mode (Peace) it seemed the lad from Eindhoven was on a collision course for superstardom. With the release of his debut album “Supernaturalistic” in early 2008, Sander showed once again that he was no one trick pony. Preferring to term what he does as ‘SvD Style’, Sander shrugged off the confines of genre typecasting long ago. The album was a critical and commercial success and was the first unabridged glimpse of Sanders musical virtuosity. With the help of his prolific alter egos (Sam Sharp, Sandler, Purple Haze and Filterfunk), Sander has been able to transcended the musical prejudice that so often accompanies being a big name Dj. This is why every Dj, no matter the genre, has an SvD track in their arsenal at all times. But his fans are the real stars in Sander’s phenomenal rise. They send all his records to number one, and helped to make him a required headliner at the most prestigious institutions dance music has ever known. Mysterland, Dance Valley, Global Gathering, Godskitchen, Garudas, Sankeys, Pacha, Cream, Sensation, Space, SW4, Trance Energy, Creamfields, Electrocity, and Electric Daisy Carnival, have all hailed his arrival and given the world the truest refection of Sander’s real power and popularity. Each year the number of countries visited grows, as does his frequent flier status. With a tour diary that see’s the superstar play to more than a million fans each year, there’s no doubt that that Sander van Doorn is dance music’s favorite son. Sander continues to meet the demands of being one of the worlds most sought after artists by continuing to evolve musically, professionally and artistically. In 2010 a deal was reached with global satellite leader SiriusXM to syndicate his radio show called ‘Identity.’ The show airs twice weekly to over 10 million worldwide on channel 38, Electric Area. Sander has also worked tirelessly to bring his clubbing concept, Dusk till Doorn to fruition. It’s a fully produced and musically integrated stage show that showcases not only van Doorn, but seeks to highlight and expose new artists, technologies and music that Sander favors. The concept spawned a successful double mix compilation in 2010 that allowed fans to relive the experience anytime. Dusk till Doorn has been hailed as the future of clubbing. Of course, Sander’s label Doorn Records, has been gaining a strong foothold as one of the most upfront in dance music. Sander is passionate about the music released on his namesake, choosing every track personally. And if this mountain of accomplishments were not enough, he somehow makes time to produce the quarterly ‘how to’ show called ‘Studio Sessions.’ The show airs on his YouTube channel (SanderVanDoornTV) and provides viewers with step by step instructions of his process in the studio. Today, Sander van Doorn is electronic music royalty. He’s a hit-maker, a tastemaker, and musical visionary. With boundary pushing preciscion, Sander has taken music, clubbing and production to the next level. He’s been awarded so many honors from industry and peers alike that his mantle is permanently bowed. Poll after poll cement his status as one of the worlds best, and you can bet that whatever the position or rank he holds, in the hearts and minds of his fans he is always #1.

Records Labels

  • Anjuna Beats Anjunabeats is the UK’s fastest growing dance label and home to acclaimed producers/DJ’s Above & Beyond (Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki) and their many alter egos. Anjunabeats was formed when Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamaki met at Westminster University and discovered a mutual love of electronic music. The pair kicked off the label in 2000 with ‘Anjunabeats Volume 1’, a massive club success. The bomb had dropped and the Anjunabeats name was firmly on the map. Soon afterwards Jono and Paavo became friends with fellow producer Tony McGuinness and together the three went on to form Above & Beyond. When the Above & Beyond remix of Chakra ‘Home’ reached number one in the UK club charts, the trio had many of the world’s leading labels knocking at their door, offering some interesting remix opportunities. As Above & Beyond’s profile as artists grew, so did the Anjunabeats label. It provided the perfect outlet for their numerous production projects – Oceanlab, Aalto, Freestate, Nitromethane, POS, Rollerball and Tranquillity Base – and every release was warmly received by elite DJ’s and club-goers across the globe. More recently, with James Grant on board as A&R and all round bossman, the Anjunabeats collective have been busy signing a series of fresh artists to the label. New signings have included Finnish trance maestro Super8, Swedish production prodigy ‘Endre’, and Dutch Deep Tech Genius, Stephen J.Kroos and the talented duo of Smith & Pledger. In the last eighteen months Anjunabeats has emerged as one of the most influential labels in dance music today, and there is seldom a time when a set by one of the top Trance jocks doesn’t contain an Anjuna track.

The Amsterdam-based label works with and manages some of the biggest names in dance music industry, like Markus Schulz, StoneBridge, M.I.K.E., Aly & Fila, Dash Berlin, Roger Shah, Max Graham, Andy Moor, Mischa Daniels, Josh Gabriel and of course Armin himself. But it doesn’t stop there. Armada also hosts successful events worldwide, therewith entering the areas of management and events. Its yearly events in Ibiza manage to attract thousands of party lovers to the white beaches, sunsets and of course: the best DJ’s Armada provides them. Ultimately Managing Director and co-owner Maykel Piron puts it best: “It’s mainly important to be able to release high quality dance music. He also decided on the artwork, that represents his true Bavarian roots. The wild pig stands for his home Bavaria as well as for his rocking DJ-style. The first release has been one of his secret weapons for a very long time and requests in his guestbook are enormous. Tomcraft mainly uses it as a big opener in his sets. The Original “Underground Funk” has been released on German Techno label Nerven Records some time ago and now it’s back with even bigger remixes by Tomcraft himself and a new version by Berlin’s Techno-master DJ Emerson.
  • Defected Records Defected Records - If you’ve ever been to a club, bar or house party where the DJ was playing House music, the likelihood is that at least one of the records you heard was signed to Defected. For the last 10 years they’ve been releasing tunes that have defined the scene and are now unquestionably the global authority within the genre. From its first release – Soulsearcher’s ‘Can’t Get Enough’ – to its last, Defected’s sound has been deeply rooted in classic soul and disco, and while their sound has no doubt developed over the last decade with techier signings such as Ame ‘Rej’ and Lifelike & Kris Menace ‘Discopolis’, this firm belief in the essential musicality of house has never faded. Kings of Tomorrow’s ‘Finally’, Blaze ‘Most Precious Love’, Fish Go Deep ‘The Cure and the Cause’ and the chart topping ‘Another Chance’ from Roger Sanchez, are shining examples of the quality, creativity and exuberance Defected Records continually strive to represent.

This labels reputation in the album market was also secured with the release of Barcelona based Vincenzo’s debut longplayer „1-800 Vincenzo“, a high-quality album that fortified his status as one of the most interesting house producers around. Dessous is also all about variety and the catalogue is laced with bits of Jazz & downtempo tracks for relaxation, a lot of cool disco elements, as well as dry percussions, which add to the whole kudos of the label as an outlet for sophisticated variety which expands the sound spectrum in the form of modern fusions of music and genres in an opalescent way. • Freerange Records Freerange has, over its 10 year life span, continued to build a solid reputation and loyal fan base seeing it blossom into what many consider to be one of the most consistent and interesting UK based labels. Jamie Odell and Tom Roberts established the label in June 1996 with the initial aim being to release Jamie's own Jimpster and Audiomontage productions and later to sign and develop artists with a similar approach to producing innovative, deep and soulful music. This has led to the point where the label can now boast fifteen regular artists, eighty twelve inch releases and seventeen full length albums. Freerange have always worked hard to avoid throwaway, disposable music choosing instead to focus on releases which push things forward whether it be 12 inches rocking the dance floor or classic artist albums that the listener will come back to time and time again. We see Freerange as a label where quality always overrides quantity guaranteeing that our records, whatever the style or current trend, sound fresh and musical.
  • Get Physical Music The Berlin-based label Get Physical Music is run by a true collective - six people who have been active in the electronic music scene for a long time. Only recently, Get Physical was voted fourth most popular label in the 2004 Groove Magazine readers’ poll (“National Label”). Acting under the collective moniker M.A.N.D.Y., Bodmer and Jung are best known for their remixes of Silicone Soul, Röyksopp, Galleon, Mambotur and the Sugababes. Current remix projects include Freeform Five’s “Strangest things”, „Come into my kitchen“ by Joakim and Seelenluft’s „You come along“. To date they have released three records on Get Physical under their own name. As co-producers they are also behind M.A.N.D.Y. & the SUNSETPEOPLE as well as Chelonis R. Jones. The two inseparable friends have been whipping up a frenzy at most of Germany’s best clubs and festivals and also an increasing number of venues abroad. Among others, they are part of the resident line-up of Frankfurt’s Monza Club as well as Berlin’s foremost party haven Weekend. Booka Shade are Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, production masterminds behind most of the Get Physical releases (including all records and remixes by M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T., Sunsetpeople, Chelonis R. Jones and, naturally, their own output). Since the mid-90s Merziger and Kammermeier have released a wide variety of projects on prestigious labels like R&S (Degeneration), Harthouse (Synesthasia), Touché (Booka Shade) or Tommy Boy (Oakland Stroke). Their first album „Memento“ was released in late 2004. Together with production colleague Peter Hayo they have been running their own production company and studio for over 15 years and apply their wide range of talents not only to the realm of electronic music, but also to a large variety of other productions. Thomas Koch aka DJ T. is the founder and publisher of Groove (est. in 1989), a music magazine available in all German-speaking countries. As an author Koch has contributed to a wide variety of books on music (a. o. “Localizer 1.0” and “techno”). In addition, he co-founded the Frankfurt-based Monza Club and, as “DJ T.”, has been moving the German club scene since the late 80s – among others Koch held residencies at seminal clubs like the Music Hall, Dorian Gray, XS, The Box, U60311 and Spectrum/MTW. Nowadays, he can be spotted at Monza events or his current residencies at 50 Grad (Mainz) and Room 106 (Darmstadt) as well as many guest appearances in Germany and abroad. Four years ago DJ T. released his first record together with Steve Bug („Monsterbaze“) on the latter’s Pokerflat label. The last few months saw the release of remixes on Naked Music, 20:20 Vision and Yellow Productions.
  • Global Underground Global Underground is a series of progressive house compilation albums reflecting a performance of a high profile DJ in venues from around the world. The name of the series gives reference to the albums' removal from typical mainstream dance music and the fact that each album is recorded at a different exotic location around the world, which often influences the tone of the music. Global Underground is arguably one of the first high-profile DJ mix series that has enjoyed international success. The series has now spawned a label that puts out tracks appearing on the albums, singles from some of Progressive House's most sought after artists. In addition, albums from such luminaries as Sasha, Trafik, Pako & Frederik and Unkle have been relased outside of the GU Boxed brand.
  • Hed Kandi Hed Kandi - To celebrate the opening of the brand new Hed Kandi Bar in Brighton we sent a competition winner, Ryan Walsh, down to the launch to document his experience... 'On my way down the famous hill of West Street you couldn’t help but be drawn to the new glow emanating from the seafront. That phosphorescent beam was of course the brand new offering from the world of Hed Kandi Bars! Brighton’s very own disco ball haven has taken up residence on the final stretches of West Street, nestled around some of the hottest spots in the town. The first thing that strikes you as you stroll up to the bar is the bright, vibrant, infectious lifestyle surrounding the place. Beaming with the famous Hed Kandi pinks and blues, it’s safe to say the bar has most definitely raised the stakes when it comes to a glamorous night out on the cool shores of Brighton. As you enter you’re greeted by everything you expect when it comes to Hed Kandi…two stunning girls! A very pleasant entrance is followed by 2 minutes of open-mouthed gazing, although judging by the size of the place this was probably closer to 3 or 4 minutes! The space is huge and the fabulous world of Hed Kandi even manages to spread itself across two floors in this bar! From cool, quirky wall fittings providing ever-changing atmospheric lighting to the famous Hed Kandi Bar collages that adorn the walls of not only the VIP booths but the incredibly decorated toilets (trust me, they’re well worth a look…although you’ll have to take a girl/guy’s word for it?). It’s not all about the walls though; the ceiling at the bar has hundreds of disco balls hanging from it! Disco balls on such an industrial scale makes for an incredible lighting effect and really ups the ante on the glamour ratings! Definitely an eye-rubbing moment when you first see these! The drinks were delightful, the cocktail menu was vast and diverse with my favourite being the Destroy The Disco (good album too!). Of course the music was spot on, DJ Eibhlin and Stephanie Jay were right on the money with their eclectic mix of dance classics and modern-day floorfillers. The mood of the bar really feels at home in Brighton, it’s great to see a different offering for the local clubbers, one surely to enhance any night out in Brighton. I say any night out because I’ve recently discovered the schedule for the bar and it’s already rammed every week! From incredible student parties to a darker, dubstep night all the way through to the main reason we’re all coming to this venue…the classic Hed Kandi night out! All in all, well worth a visit, beautiful venue with an atmosphere that’s second to none. Already planning my next visit…just need to decide to go Back To Love on a Wednesday or maybe some Pure Kandi on a Saturday..?? Ah what the heck…I’ll do both.' Thanks to Ryan for his amazing review, we really appreciate everyone who came down for the Grand Opening, it was an incredible night and we can't wait for many more parties like that along the way!
  • Kompakt Kompakt is a Cologne-based electronic music record label, owned by Wolfgang Voigt, Michael Mayer and Jürgen Paape. They specialize in microhouse and minimal techno, and are known for their Total compilation series, now in its ninth installment. According to Grooves magazine, 'Kompakt’s chief aesthetic objective has always been the perfect marriage of ambient texture and linear 4x4 structure—blending deep, granular sound design with the 4-bar rhythmic intensity and patterning that makes house and techno so club-effective'. British music critic Simon Reynolds has characterized Kompakt as the 'label that's contributed more than any other to Germany's dominance of electronic dance music this decade [the 2000s]'. Notable producers of the label include Superpitcher, Michael Mayer, Justus Köhncke and Jürgen Paape. Techno & electronic artists, such as The Orb, Thomas Fehlmann, The Field, Jonas Bering, Aril Brikha and others have released material on Kompakt.

  • Ministry Of Sound Ministry of Sound (MoS) is one of the most famous nightclubs in the world of electronic music. Located in Elephant and Castle, Southwark, South London, Ministry of Sound was one of the key locations in the development of house music in Britain in the early 1990s. DJs mix live sets on Friday and Saturday each week. In recent times, the Ministry of Sound brand has expanded with franchise clubs being opened in Asia, and club tours taking place worldwide. Ministry of Sound is also a record label that produces many compilations each year, featuring many artists. These compilations are compiled from many different genres of music, but primarily the dance, house, and trance genres.

  • NRK Records The NRK record label was conceived in 1996 by founders Nick Harris and Redg Weeks. Since 1992 NRK had been one of the UK's pioneering DJ Agencies, holding the books for a multitude of artists and DJs like Larry Heard, Derrick Carter, Carl Craig, Dimitri From Paris, Ian Pooley, Motorbass and Mousse T. Throughout their time as booking agents and promoters Nick & Redg yearned to channel their energy and enthusiasm directly into the music, they saw too many tired labels pidgeon-holing their output, terrified of eclecticism within the house sound. So, the NRK label was born, with King Street supremo Nelson Rosado penning the first release, 'House 'n' Kontrol back in 1996. The second release was to cement the reputation of Canada's Nick Holder as a leading light in deep house circles. His friendship with Redg (half Canadian) led to the signing of 'Paradise,' a sun-kissed, balearic, deep-house classic, complemented by an outstanding mix from the Salt City Orchestra. The desirable NRK catalogue gained much momentum in its first year, with killer-cuts from Ian Pooley, Plastic Avengers, Dimitri From Paris, Lenny Fontana and Freeform Five amongst others. Since then NRK has gone from strength to strength, consistently putting out killer singles which recently had one of DJ Mag’s house reviewers confidently stating: “In my opinion NRK are one of the best labels around.” Their excellent Nite:Life compilation series has seen some of the world’s best jocks stepping up to the one’s and two’s to mix their favourite tracks. If you like great quality house music, this is definitely a label you want to follow closely.
  • Renaissance Recordings Now a global clubbing phenomenon, Renaissance was founded as a club night in March 1992. The emphasis from the very beginning was on quality. Classical imagery derived from the paintings of the Italian Renaissance were the trademark of the clubs advertising and immediately stood in out in stark contrast to the identities of its competitors. Nothing like this had been seen before, and there was an instant excitement and curiosity, created by what was a carefully thought out marketing campaign.Venue 44 played original host to Renaissance and from the start barriers were broken and trends set. It was the first club to use 3 or 4 high profile guest DJ's every week, backed up by the afore mentioned advertising campaign, which seemed to feature in every magazine you opened; a practice that has since become standard industry formula. The concept reaped instant rewards for Renaissance, and the club was a massive success. With the image of the club complete, the focus naturally turned to the music. Once again this was an area where Renaissance excelled. In a typically innovative move, Sasha was announced as the weekly resident DJ, and a then relatively unknown John Digweed chosen as his partner. These two DJ's are now responsible for leading dance music at the cutting edge and, in turn, creating a worldwide demand for British club culture. In October 1994 Renaissance released their first album 'Renaissance - The Mix Collection', mixed by Sasha and John Digweed. It demolished sales figures of any complitation album before, and is still recognised as the benchmark for all club compilation albums. The success of the first album prompted Renaissance to develop a tours department. The aim of this was to support sales of the current and all future album(s), and in turn, spread the Renaissance ideal to as wide an audience as possible. The first U.K tour, in 1994, incorporated all the elements which had made Renaissance such a success; stunning décor was lavished upon the venues by a specially trained production team with complementing projections of beautiful Renaissance imagery. This, coupled with the distinct Renaissance sound, gave clubbers throughout the country a taste for all things Renaissance. Renaissance Worldwide was born eight years ago, and has touched down in all the world's major locations, including America, Russia, China, Japan, Canada, South Africa, Argentina, Switzerland and Newcastle to name but a few. In addition, Renaissance has completed seven consecutive seasons in Ibiza. Returning to the UK and the present day, Renaissance run monthlies at club Stealth in Nottingham, and The Cross in London (which is now in its ninth year), which both regularly see top-flight guests such as Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Rui Da Silva and Sander Kleinenberg. Throughout all this activity the Renaissance albums have continued to go from strength to strength. In 1999 Renaissance joined forces with the mighty Ministry of Sound to further develop a singles label. The singles arm gained instant recognition with Mark Pichiotti's seminal progressive anthem by Sandstorm - 'The Return of Nothing', and has since been churning out the usual quality one expects from the brand. In 2003, Renaissance bought out the Ministry of Sound from the joint venture, taking full ownership of the recordings business. This has enabled the brand to focus on and control the output of both albums and singles from the label. Recent compilations include two Masters Series releases from Hernan Cattaneo, two Renaissance presents “The Therapy Sessions” mixed by Dave Seaman & Phil K, two Renaissance presents Everybody mixed by Sander Kleinenberg, and an amazing Alive mixed by James Zabiela. If you don’t know them, where the hell have you been? This label doesn’t just put out dance music, it most often defines it. A prolific, unparalleled series of international shows, complemented by an exciting new release schedule for the label, suggests Renaissance has ridden the storm of the supposed decline of dance music. The brand has been carefully steered away from the more commercial enterprises of its peers, and has held on to and nurtured the values that stand Renaissance in such good stead today.
  • Rising music Chris Lake is proud to announce the birth of his very own record label, Rising Records. Being hailed as “One of the UK’s new & inspiring talents…” by Pete Tong & receiving similar plaudits from the likes of Sander Kleinenberg, Sasha & Max Graham, this is a young man who’s star is seriously on the rise. The label has been created as an outlet for all Lake's productions in an effort to ensure that they hit the streets as soon after completion as possible. The first release features tracks 'One Too Many' and 'Electro Retro'. Both tracks have caused quite a stir. Pete Tong reckons 'One Too Many' is ‘Up there with the Germans’ and both he and fellow Radio One bod Nic Fanciulli, are huge supporters of the track. 'Electro Retro' was included on the Judgement Euphoria compilation, mixed by the Trophy Twins.
  • Size Records Size Records saw the daylight in 2002 and with its proud father, no other than Steve Angello it has grown to be one of the most well known & respected house label around. The summer of 2006 saw the huge club-tracks “Teasing Mr. Charlie”, “Straight” & Who’s Who? – “Sexy F***” all released on Size and produced by Steve himself. • Skint Records Skint Records is a Brighton based dance music record label founded by JC Reid, Tim Jeffery and Damian Harris in 1995. It was created as a sublabel of Loaded Records and was at the centre of the big beat music scene of the mid to late 1990s. The label's roster at this time included scene leaders Fatboy Slim, Bentley Rhythm Ace, The Lo-Fidelity Allstars, Hardknox, Midfield General and Freq Nasty. Fatboy Slim in particular enjoyed worldwide acclaim with several big albums that have accumulated sales of over 8 million and positioned him as one of the leading DJs in the world for the past 15 years. Famous for his beach parties, Fatboy Slim often attracts up to a quarter of a million people to his gigs in Rio and Brighton. Towards the end of the 1990s and at the start of the 21st century Skint had expanded its musical range to include more house based songs, most prominently 'Lazy' by X-Press 2, which charted at number 2 in the UK charts, and releases by legendary techno artist Dave Clarke as well as artists as diverse as folk band Lucky Jim, electronica outfit FC Kahuna, the Ralfe Band, Belgian techno outfit Goose and Sheffield indie band Little Man Tate. More recently the label have enjoyed success with Kidda, who’s ‘Under The Sun’ has been used by Bacardi in their TV adverts for three years, and a number of big underground electro anthems by Alter Ego, Roman Flugel and Tomas Anderson. Xpress 2 released a much praised retrospective Greatest Hits album ‘Raise Your Hands’ and the label continue to discover and nurture new talent with releases by Foamo and Metal On Metal. Skint’s latest signing is Brighton based band Mirrors, who’s superb stagecraft and songs are causing ripples of excitement across the music industry. Mirrors have just completed a triumphant series of live shows supporting Delphic on their 2010 UK tour and are completing the finishing touches to their debut album with the help of Richard X.

The label's roster has featured scene leaders such as Cook himself (under his main pseudonym, and other various aliases), as well as electro funk pioneer, Kurtis Mantronik. Currently, the label had expanded its range of releases to include more house based artists, such as DJ Touche, Grandadbob, Armand Van Helden, Caged Baby, and Black Ghosts. Strictly has continued to tread the line between commercially and critically acclaimed house music with releases like Ultra Naté's 'Free.' • Systematic Recordings After almost 15 years in the world of electronic music, Marc Romboy felt the urge to start the Systematic label as an outlet for fierce, pumping and forward-thinking housemusic. Strictly dedicated to the dancefloor, the sound of Systematic could be described as a fusion of early Chicago house drafts from heroes like Blake Baxter, Marshall Jefferson or Derrick Carter, the complex and funky appeal of mid-eighties electro / breakdance / rap visionaries Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash or Whodini and last but not least that very essential freaky acid party touch!! This is for those, who understand the meaning of the 5 magic letters! Function and background go hand in hand! Engaging the creativity and the freshness of hot producers like Booka Shade, known for being the men behind the Get Physical sound, the master remixer and Pokerflat honcho Martin Landsky , Phonique (Crosstownrebels), John Dahlback (Dahlback Recordings), Olaf Pozsgay (Raum...Musik). not to forget Mr. Romboy himself, Systematic is sure to become a big player in the global house scene. • Carl Cox A musical ambassador since he was in short trousers, a professional DJ since his early teens, a veteran of acid house and a champion of techno – you name it, Carl's been there and done it, never losing sight of his passions – playing music, breaking tunes and celebrating life. It was at the tender age of 15 that Carl was given a set of turntables and began working as a mobile DJ. Disco was the first music that captivated him but by the early 80s Cox had moved on to playing the same music as other young London DJs – rare groove, New York hip-hop and electro. He was perfectly placed to hear Chicago house music in its earliest forms, and when the epic 'Acid Trax' by Phuture (a.k.a. DJ Pierre) came out in early '87. “It was then that I thought, 'This is it,’ says Carl. “I would do my parties, and I'd play old rare groove and hip hop and soul and I would say 'Right you've got to hear this Phuture track’ and people would just stop. It's funny because all the people who thought I had freaked out then are the people who are making the music now.' As a founder of the sound, Carl rode the exploding British rave scene. He played the opening night of Danny Rampling's legendary Shoom, co-promoted The Project with Paul Oakenfold, held a residency at the Zap Club in Brighton and at the Sunrise rave in 1988, hooked up a third turntable for his dawn-breaking set, got 15,000 kids back on their feet, and established a personal rep for three-deck wizardry.
  • Dave Clarke “I’m a pirate and I keep my loot,” says Dave Clarke with a wry smile. He’s quoting BowWowWow, specifically the song ‘C30, C60, C90, Go’, a thirty year old tribal punk-pop ode to home-taping. He sits back in the swivel chair at the sound desk of his Dutch Radio Studio, a sharply designed black and chrome space fleshed out with quirky visual flourishes. BowWowWow came up because he’s talking about his vinyl fetishism, the smell of 12”s in record shops, yet he hasn’t used the format professionally in eight years. “I’m really buzzing about the new version of [virtual DJ mixing tool] Serato,” he enthuses, “I’ve always been at the vanguard of digital DJing and the internet enables me to get new music immediately. Sometimes I’ll be in a hotel, someone can send through a track fifteen minutes before I go to a venue and I think, ‘This is incredible, I’m playing this tonight.’ That’s such liberation compared with to waiting months for an acetate.” He pauses and reaches the crux of the matter, “It’s all artist to artist now, there’s no middle management.” He may be known as The Baron Of Techno, a moniker given to him by John Peel, but Dave Clarke has an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul. Having no truck with establishment figures or authoritarianiasm, it’s unsurprising he revels in the libertarianism of the World Wide Web. It gives symmetry to his savvy techno vision. “I got so much shit for being a futurist,” he states (he was the first Techno artist to release an Internet only single back in 2000), “When I started going digital and moved away from vinyl some of my fellow artists asked me, ‘How much are they paying you?’ How much is who paying me? It was such a strange situation - this is techno – it’s supposed to be forward-looking! I thought, ‘Whatever these people say, I’m still going to move forward, it’s the right course.” He did and does. Ever the gadget-lover, he enthuses about downloading books onto hand-held devices but his main motive is delivering music to the ears of his global dancing public. He plays out every weekend everywhere. To name a recent few, The Rex in Paris, Klubbers Day in Madrid, Buenos Aires, Fabric in London, headliner of Britain’s Glade Festival, and he programmed and headlined his own stage at Holland’s Extrema Festival in 2008 and 2009. At every event there’s the same attention to detail, his sets swooping whip-smart along the cutting blade of techno and electro backed up by a seasoned bag of DJ tricks that pushes the whole caboodle to the next level. At the same time, it’s all informed by his sonic history, represented on the one hand by 2008’s ‘Back In The Box’ mix CD wherein his peerless selection represented the dawn of house, featuring tracks by DJ Pierre, Marshall Jefferson, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk and more. On the other hand, there’s his gothic, punk side, the man in black embracing the gritty rock’n’roll energy of The Damned and Bauhaus. It seems an unlikely combination but then he’s always been an outsider…
  • Joris Voorn Joris Voorn is a record producer and Dj from Rotterdam, Netherlands. Raised in a musical family, music naturally became an intrinsic part of Voornʼs life from an early age. Electronic music first caught his attention in the mid- 90ʼs, and he started DJʼing in 1997. After developing a more focused interest in house and techno, Joris invested in the versatile MC-303 Groovebox and began to experiment with synth sounds and drumloops. By the end of 2000 Joris began building a small studio to produce his own music, which led to his first release called ʻmuted trax pt.1ʼ on Keynote. His first EP was massive success, filling the record boxes of Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, DJ Rush and Technasia. In 2003 ʻLost memories Pt.1ʼ was released on Technasiaʼs SINO label and was followed by ʻLost memories Pt.2ʼ containing the anthem ʻIncidentʼ which was heard on dancefloors around the world. After the success of ʻIncidentʼ, Voorn released his debut cd album called ʻFuture Historyʼ on the Sino label. Encompassing 3 years of ideas and inspiration, the cd contains 20 diverse tracks, a seamless soundscape that represents his arrival as one of the most relevant techno producers of this time. In the summer of 2005 Joris Voornʼs new personal outlet called ʻgreenʼ saw the light of day. ʻA dedicated mindʼ was released as the first EP, which garnered success globally. He also completed his debut DJ mix CD for the Fuse club in Belgium. After Dave Clarke, DJ Hell and Technasia, Fuse presented Joris Voorn to mix part 4 of their international residentʼs dj mix albums. The mix contained over 40 tracks of timeless techno music mixed with the help of Ableton Live for its endless mixing and editing possibilities. In 2006 the sophomore release under Voornʼs Green label, named ʻMPX_309ʼ, was a crossover techno work that was played out by techno, minimal, house and trance DJs. During the same year Voorn created his second album, released worldwide in June 2007. This new piece of work called ʻFrom a deep placeʼ featured many different styles of electronic music, ranging from atmospheric interludes to broken beats, house and deep soulful techno. The focus point of the ʻFrom a deep placeʼ CD has been the listener rather than the dancer and was received enthusiastically by the electronic music community. Some of the works were edited to more dj friendly tracks for the vinyl release of the album. During the summer of 2007 Joris has been touring with his new live performance in support of his album release. More recently, Joris has been focusing on collaborative efforts producing remixes for respected and diverse artists such as Robert Babicz, Nic Fanciulli, Slam, Steve Angello, Sebo K and Jerome Sydenham. The ʻDark Flower Magnolia Mixʼ for Robert Babicz turned out to be another summer anthem in electronic dance music, and was a favourite of DJʼs like Sven Vath, Dubfire, Pete Tong and John Digweed among many others. In 2008, following the success of his resident advisor podcast, Joris was invited to produce episode 14 of the Balance DJ mix CD series from Australia. Following in the footsteps of James Holden and Lee Burridge, Joris constructed a layered and seamless mix of electronic dance music on a double CD. An epic mix in the very best sense of the word, Balance 014 achieves the rare feat of combining variety and consistency, making it perfect for trainspotters and dancers alike. The tracks change quickly and quietly, but the groove stays. An accompanying world tour will follow where Joris will bring the essence of this studio project to the stage, using all different elements of the mix into a full range club experience. Having established himself as a leading producer and DJ, Joris will be embarking on a new project called ʻA green nightʼ. Inspired by his surroundings, which is never limited to the dancefloor, Joris and his team will be creating a night in several festivals and clubs, exploring the possibilities of combining music and visual arts. This year the project will be developed, tested and finetuned in selected clubs. As a DJ and live performer Joris Voorn has joined an elite group of international DJʼs whose musical talent has acquired global appeal. He has performed across Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Austsralia, Russia, Brazil, Colombia, Israel, Detroit, Chicago and New York.

  • Speedy J Jochem Paap is the Rotterdam artist Speedy J, early on in his career he was given the moniker to note his adept skills in his DJ performances. He is unanimously considered to be one of the first techno producers to come from the Benelux. Together with people like Laurent Garnier, Aphex Twin and Richie Hawtin he helped in pushing the genre on just after it had escaped the Detroit delivery room. Since the early nineties, Speedy J has released his music on Plus 8, Warp and Novamute, while techno developed into a dominating force on many dance floors worldwide. After his seminal albums Ginger (1993) and G Spot (1995), Jochem turned left and headed for other exciting sounds. On Public Energy No. 1 (1997) and A Shocking Hobby (2000) the sound wizard exchanges flowing, harmonious techno for a much more complex sound, filled with colliding samples, crackling rhythms and tremendously thrilling turns. After 20 years of techno Speedy J has now come full circle. But what a an exiting journey it has been musicaly. Over the years he has collaborated with video-artists, filmmakers and advertisers, made the pioneering DVD Umfeld (2007), in collaboration with LA based video artist Scott Pagano. The DVD, remarkably made available as a free download on the internet for his fans is an audio-visual, electronic trip in 5.1 surround sound, which sets the standard for many composers who want to compose in the six speaker format. Speedy J has continuously been pushing the boundaries of electronic & experimental dance music. Blurring the lines between Live performance and Digital Djing, he fuses subversive electronics and peak time Techno. Always on the lookout for new tools and technologies, Speedy has adopted some exotic tools in his studio setup such as Symbolic Sound’s Kyma system. He is also working collaborating with NI and Allen & Heath advising and helping develop DJ tools such as Traktor, Maschine and the A&H DB:4 mixer. Logically, the releases on his label Electric Deluxe all feature tool versions, introducing the concept of creating unique live sets from parts as a natural progression of traditional Djing. Not only setting the bar for peak hour Techno madness, Electric Deluxe has become the platform for his Collabs series that started on Novamute, as well as releases by open minded artists like Terence Fixmer, Gary Beck, Echologist, George Issakidis, Tommy Four Seven and Edit Select to showcase the value of creative synergy using newest technology. Another important part of his Electric Deluxe platform is the introduction of a new series of techno events called Electric Deluxe presents, now on its 11th edition has brought the likes of Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Radio Slave, Matthew Dear, Chris Liebing, Modeselektor, Jeff Mills and Marcel Dettmann into play. Electric Deluxe is the staple of many summer festivals and is now setting its stall out to move around the globe pushing its sound and forward thinking parties. EDLX l has hosted stages include Mysteryland and Lowlands in the Netherlands
  • Steve Rachmad Steve Rachmad is a Dutch techno producer, DJ and remixer. By many, he is considered a father of Detroit techno in the Netherlands, respected in the world of electronic music for his deep, groovy sounds that tend to rest on impressive strings, melodies, funk and soul. His career has been reaching its highest peaks from 1996 up to the present time. Yet, it is somewhat less known that he has been in the music realms for over 25 years by now. Steve’s life story starts in Amsterdam. At the age of 12, teenage Steve already starts buying his first records: to mix, remix, and cut-and-paste their parts with an open reel tape deck. In such a cut-and-paste fashion, he presented his first release in the mid-1980s. Among these early releases was also the one created for a hip-house/dance artist Tony Scott. From that time on, Steve finds his inspiration in the 1980s dance and electro, works of former Time members (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis), The System, Arthur Baker, to name but a few. At the age of 15, he also starts his DJing career with a disco set in a small Amsterdam club. Nevertheless, his love for music urges him to start buying equipment, which would later result in a professional studio that is, according to him, “everything he ever dreamt of having.” Today, his equipment is mainly analogue, providing him with a chance to explore the realms of warm, alive, non-static sounds. He laid the corner stone of this collection in 1985, by getting a TR-808. A year later, Steve gets introduced to the house music. His attention is captured by the new sounds echoing mostly from Detroit and Chicago, i.e. by the work of artists such as Mr. Fingers and Derrick May. Following their style, Steve’s own style takes a new direction. He is soon to be found releasing for artists like Darren Emerson and Derrick May. The incoming years are to be marked by numerous successful releases on labels such as 100% Pure, Cocoon, Underwater, Fragile, M-Plant, Tresor, and the recent years on labels as Sino, Delsin, Music Man, Artless, Truesoul, Figure SPC, Wolfskuill, Saved, Get Physical, etc. He also made over a hundred remixes, signed under various pseudonyms. He remixed a variety of artists, from Taksi, Derrick May and John Tejada, to Armand van Helden, Club MCM, Armin van Buuren, Seven Grand Housing Authority, Victor Calderone and Basement Jaxx. Among Steve’s most respected releases is certainly his album “Secret Life of Machines,” which came out in 1996 under his pseudonym Sterac, and is up to this date considered as one of the all-time techno classics. About the same time his DJing path starts rapidly evolving as well. Until today, Steve shares his talent with the crowds all over the World. He occasionally spins disco and electro, but mainly deephouse and techno. Of all the fictitious names he used throughout his career to sign his productions, the ones that remained until today are Sterac, Sterac Electronics, Ignacio and Parallel 9. In the later years, he also releases more and more under his real name. The history of remixes continues into the present, including a variety of people, such as M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade, DK7, Clashing Egos, Sweet Coffee, Infinity (Juan Atkins vs Orlando Voorn), etc. In the latest years, next to his characteristic techno sound, he also actively focuses on electro, stripping it down to the old-school feel. His Sterac Electronics remixes of the vocal track Love Sweet Love (by Clashing Egos), Keep on Running (by Sweet Coffee) and Body Language (by M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade), and his own “Keep on running” and “Night Heat” releases on Music Man Records have ended up in the record bags of a wide variety of artists, from techno, to minimal, house and electro. He re-confirms his reputation as an artist with exquisite ear for technical qualities of sound, always returning to his soulful roots and maintaining the warmth of analogue-produced music. Over the years, Steve lost the count of his productions and remixes. However, he built an oeuvre that is without a doubt of a high magnitude: both quality and quantity-wise. Unfortunately, his busy DJ schedule puts a limit on the time he would like to spend in his studio. Yet, he strives for the balance that would satisfy his enormous artistic appetite and potential. His devotion to his dreams and inspirations drives him safely into the successful future. Short highlight: Taking into account his 25 year career, Steve Rachmad is known by everyone by now. His discography counts more than 100 releases, and we all heard him some time tearing the roof apart. He can be, justified, stamped as a real techno legend, who can count on fans in every corner of the world, but also has numberless colleague artists which he inspired with his music.
In the beginning days of his career, he was considered as a European answer to the classic sound coming from Detroit after his debut album 'Secret life of machines' which came out in the early days of 100% Pure label. The album was a milestone of the techno scene of that time. Labels like Tresor, Fragile, M-Plant and Sino followed, and he soon established his spot at the Belgian Music Man institute. He developed a typical pumping and hypnotic production style with records as Organa, Chios and Virton, one by one big time classics which are still, more than 10 years later often played in clubs and festivals.
Steve Rachmad as a DJ built up a lot of experience too. His technique is of an unprecedented class (he was one of the first DJs who played with the 3rd deck into perfection), but he is above all a DJ who time after time knows how to bring the public on a hypnotising trip, thanks to the intelligent way of programming music during his sets. During his career, he explored techno into extents; with the same ease he also conquers the areas between deephouse, 1980's synthesiser music and Drexciya-inspired electro as he explores the borders of the darker and more raw sound with tempo above 130 beats per minute.

  • Umek For a long time, Slovenia has been known for its great electronic parties, but as the local scene is of boutique dimensions, everyone who wishes to take the art of mixing and producing to a professional level, has to go out there and enter the worldwide scene. Umek has done this step as early as in the middle of the 90s and so he became one of the most important techno players of the global techno scene, even before the end of the last millennium. Together with people, who shared the same views, he successfully captured the first era of researching and recreating the rules of the dance music in Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco platforms, which all put the sound of the Slovenian techno on the world map of electronic music. In the beginning of the year 2007, Umek started a new 1605 Music Therapy - Sixteenofive, with which he marked the beginning of the second era of his music creation and what an era it is! After 4 years the label is tagged as a great success and is one of the world’s fastest growing techno labels, which spawns releases and new talents almost every week. 2011 started as none before! First, and interesting documentary, named “Techno heavy-weights UMEK & Carl Cox in back to back interview” was released and was aplauded by UMEK's audience and shared tremendously over the internet and social networks. In February, UMEK was again nominated on the Beatport Music Awards, this time as a best artist overall, along with the likes of David Guetta, Deadmau5, Mark Knight. He won by staff pick and is 2011’s Beatport’s Best artist. Numerous UMEK’s releases and remixes alerady pounding the Beatport Techno and Tech House Chart (on 1605 and other world-renowned labels), and the crown jewel of 2011 – already favourite among the millions of listeners across the globe – his own weekly radio show, wittily titled “Behind The Iron Curtain”, featuring upcoming talents, legendary tracks from the past, best on [1605] and more. Not to mention the vast number of already confirmed bookings for 2011, such as the sophomore residency at Space Ibiza with Carl Cox for 10th anniversary of his legendary project called Revolution. These are the best proof, that UMEK stays focused on his primary goal – making and selecting high quality productions that stand out from the rest and bringing his sound closer to people all around the world.

  • Armin van Buuren Armin van Buuren has been named number one in the prestigious DJ MAG Top 100 poll four times in a row, in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, as the first DJ in the history of the DJ Magazine and an indication of his prolific output over the more than 15 years he’s been dj’ing and producing. In 2011, he became second in the critically acclaimed popularity poll, taking in a Top 3 position for the 8th year running. Being one of the world’s most popular DJ’s is just one of his many achievements, but the driving force behind his success is an overriding passion for dance music.
  • Blank and Jones Blank & Jones have been hugely important in the history of electronic music. They started in 1997 with their debut 'Sunrise' and were one of the main originators of trance music with artists like Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold. During their carrer they never knew any musical boundaries and worked with famous pop stars like Robert Smith (The Cure), Bernard sumner (New Order), Sarah Mc Lachlan, Pet Shop Boys and Keane to name just a few. Their sound evolved with the years and so did their Worldwide success. To date they released 11 artist albums, which all charted in the sales charts and cover such various styles like Electronica, Ambient, Lounge, Pop, Trance and Dance Music. Their great variety is also proved by the highly acclaimed compilations like 'so8os [so eighties]' which pays tribute to the original club mixes of the 80s or 'Milchbar' and 'Chilltronica' where they bring the listener new soundscapes of downbeat music.
  • Cosmic Gate Introduction: Over 11 boundary-pushing years, Nic Chagall and Bossi have developed Cosmic Gate into one of the most creative and highly-sought-after electronic music acts on the planet. Revered uber-producers, their combined musical acumen has made them evergreen favourites of trance music's highest echelon. Four hugely-received albums have transported tracks like 'Not Enough Time', 'Body of Conflict', 'Analog Feel', 'F.A.V.' and classics including 'Exploration of Space' and Fire Wire onto a now uncountable number of dancefloors. As DJs, the effortless cool of their kinetic, enthralling live sets are seen by hundreds of thousands of club and festival goers annually. It's this perfect storm of production and spinning power that saw them become the highest-climbers in DJ Mag's 2009 Top 100 chart and land at no. 24 in 2010. The pair first collaborated in the studio after a chance meeting late in '98 at a label office in Cologne. It's a production partnership that has become one of the dance world's most successful. In their homeland of Germany, they've maintained a consistent level of chart success, with no fewer than 7 Top 40 singles to their name and claimed a UK top 10 hit with 'Fire Wire'. Drawing on a broad-range of their individual musical tastes and inspirations, they've continued to modify and enhance their sound... Following up the long-players 'Rythm & Drums' and 'No More Sleep', in 2006 they released 'Earth Mover', which saw a shift towards edgier, more expansive electronic dance music. It gave rise to the club hits 'Analog Feel', 'Should Have Known' and 'I Feel Wonderful' and garnered an IDMA nomination for Best Album of 2007. Latterly this was viewed by the press as a new 'Year-1' for Cosmic Gate. Three years later Nic and Bossi released their much-anticipated follow-up. 'Sign of the Times' contained 11 new tracks including vocal anthems 'Body of Conflict' & 'Not Enough Time' (featuring Denise Rivera and Emma Hewitt respectively) and the singles 'F.A.V.', 'Flatline', 'Under Your Spell', 'London Rain' and title track 'Sign Of The Times'. The response to the album was nothing short of meteoric. They received a Best Selling Trance Act nomination in the 2010 Beatport Awards; scored an IDMA nom for 'Not Enough Time' and were catapulted 43 places up DJ Mag's 2009 chart. In light of its extraordinary level of success, in September 2010 a double-disc Deluxe Edition of the album was released which included all the singles remixes and exclusive, specially prepared revamps of other S.O.T.T. tracks. As DJs Nic and Bossi continue to whip floors to frenzy-level in all four corners. Most recently they've rocked some of America's most prominent events - Electric Zoo, The Electric Daisy Festival, Audiotistic and Perfecto Night in Las Vegas among them. They've brought mayhem to Ibiza's 2010 season with hugely received performances at Armada at Amnesia and Judgement Sundays, played mammoth the Global Gathering festival in Russia and headlined Godskitchen's tours in Australia and Mexico. They've appeared in DJ Magazine's list of Top 100 spinners for 7 consecutive years now and are regular festival attraction, spinning at events like Trance Energy, Mysteryland and Dance Valley in Holland, Smirnoff Experience in India and on the horizon Future Music in Australia in 2011. Back2Back, Cosmic Gate's on-going compilation series was devised as an at-home audio-expo of the pair's club-wowing sound. 2010 saw the release of the 4th volume (through Holland's highly-respected Black Hole Recordings label). Bringing Bossi and Nic's tight, tense, future-proofed trance/prog/electro hybrid to the forefront, it once again included many of their own track edits. Over their production lifetime, the Cosmic Gate remix has become nearly as illustrious as their productions. Essentially a blow-by-blow of trance music's A-list, Nic and Bossi have lent their studio know-how to productions from Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond's OceanLab project, Deadmau5 & Rank 1. They rewired John O'Callaghan's mega-seller 'Find Yourself' to devastating effect and produced remixes of veteran trance producer Vincent De Moor's 'Fly Away' and 'Carte Blanche' (Veracocha). In early 2010 Atlantic Records US approached them to remix James Horner's 'I See You' - the main theme from the film Avatar. This run culminated in them being nominated for Best Remixer at the 2010 IDMAs. Most recently they have completed remixes for Robbie Rivera and Markus Schulz.

  • Ferry Corsten If there’s one thing a superstar DJ will learn after years racking up frequent flyer miles and playing for thousands of fans, it’s that they are only as prominent as their last album tour. Award‐winning Ferry Corsten, someone who can easily be referred to as the DJ’s DJ, has taken this advice to heart and emerged as one of the most prominent Dutch jocks in the world. Through constant touring , fan outreach, a weekly radioshow and podcast and an abundance of self‐produced dance hits, he has managed to captivate the imagination of dance music fans around the world. Ferry Corsten — who was named Best Producer of the Year by the Ericsson Music Awards and Best Trance DJ by the Ibiza DJ Awards, and consistently ranked as one of the top 10 DJs in the world— is best known for his creativity as a music producer and his unique up‐tempo, big‐room trance and house sound. His performances as a DJ never fails fans to keep coming back and wanting more. It is a chest‐pounding sum of the electronic music influences he turned to, going as far back as the age of nine when he started collecting records. In 2010 Ferry introduced the unforgettable “Once Upon a Night” compilation series, which became his vehicle for touring, sharing upfront music, and shining the spotlight on bright new talent. It was the first time in several years that Ferry had taken on a compilation project. But the timing was perfect, since world touring gave him an insider glimpse to the music emerging from different parts of the world. While Ferry’s “Once Upon a Night” concept has taken the world by storm, it also served as an impetus to starting Premier Recordings. His latest project is a joint venture between his own label, Flashover Recordings and Black Hole Recordings. “We’re still both our own platform and label, but we came up with Premier together,” he explains. Whenever they find a big record, the two companies join forces for an extra large release. Ferry Corsten fans can also look forward to his upcoming artist album, which will present his always‐cutting edge take on electronic music. For now, the details are strictly confidential, but Ferry assures us that he’s fully committed to conjuring the right hook lines and melodies while bringing about some exciting collaborations. “It’s definitely going to be an album that you can classify as trance, but it’s way more groovy and way more danceable,” he sums. With a massive following on Facebook and Twitter and almost 10 million you tube views, Ferry has also become an ambassador for dance music as social media resource. “It’s the only way you can directly connect with your fans without them having to wait for anything,” he states. Just as he is into his equipment in the studio, Ferry fans can have all the coolest apps and gadgets to keep in touch with him wherever he is! At www.FerryCorsten.com they can download official Blackberry, Android, iPhone and iPad apps. He is also a co‐promoter of the entertainment applications Pulse Game (tap game) and the Cue. Play.DJ , (an iphone/ipad DJ Mixer). Corsten’s Countdown is Ferry’s interactive radio show, which he launched in 2007 and is currently available in over 35 countries nationwide such as Digitally Imported (DI.fm), Sirius XM Radio and 27 leading radio stations in The Netherlands, Brazil, UK, Australia, Argentina and the Philippines, to name a few. You can vote for your favourite track of the month on his Facebook fanpage. The show is also downloadable as a podcast on itunes. By constantly traveling around the world, Ferry has been exposed to some of the wasteful practices going on, at the expense of animals and the environment. “When I go to the more tropical countries in the world such as the Philippines,” he elaborates, “where I see all the dynamite fishing and how coral reefs are deteriorating before my eyes.” As an ambassador for the Dutch World Wildlife Fund team, he is leveraging the exposure his events afford him to raise awareness about the WWF. “I pass on the earth because every generation has the right to enjoy its beauty — just as I am doing, and the previous generations have done.' As music makes the world go round, so does sending out a powerful message to help save our planet. Look out for Ferry at a nightclub, festival arena or large‐scale venue near you. For more information please visit www.ferrycorsten.com. Physical copies of his CDs and all sorts of merchandise can be purchased at the Ferry Corsten Shop. The album is also available as download at iTunes.
  • Jochen Miller Bringing a visionary, never-heard-before crossbreed of progressive, electro& trance to his musical activities, Holland’s Jochen Miller embodies thenew decade’s freeform, Big Room sound. From his earliest turntable days he’s disregarded traditional EDM borders to bring countless global dancefloors to critical mass.A spinner without parallel, he’s comprehensively conquered his home-country,playing tent-pole events including Trance Energy, Mysteryland & Dance Valley before venturing abroad. Production-wise, Jochen is most readily associated with his 15+ releases on High Contrast Recordings. Over the last 6 years tracks like ‘Lost Connection’, ‘Humanoid’,‘Brace Yourself’, and most recently the Energy 2011 anthem‘Classified’, and 'Upad' have wowed clubbers globally and shaken dance floors to their core. The DJ: In2000 Jochen became the first ever resident at Nijmegen’s scene-setting, and now widely renowned, Matrixx club. From there he’s gone on to become a fixture atmany of Holland’s cooler, underground venues. With his fashionable style, charismatic nature and affinitive, authoritative deck approach, he quickly madea name for himself at spots like DansSalon, Westrunie & Marcanti. From that base he’s begun to export his new musical synthesis globally, paying regular visits to Russia, Italy, The UK, Germany, Poland (most recently for Sunrise and En-trance) & the Czech Republic to spin. Following a rapid burgeoning of hisfan-base, the latter half of 2010 saw him sign to the David Lewis Productions DJ agency - home to A-list spinners including Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz & Gareth Emery. Productions: Following his earliest turn-of-the-millennium productions (‘Surround Me’& 7th Heaven’ among them), hisdiscography went into overdrive with the launch of broad-range music label,High Contrast. ‘India’, ‘Chromatic’, ‘Alive’, ‘And Then’ (incollaboration with Rank 1) and ‘Face Value’ all provided heavy-impact floorartillery for tougher-minded DJs like Marco V, Sander van Doorn & JudgeJules. The multi-genre character of his sound was brought most keenly intofocus when, in late 2010 his ‘Classified’ single was announced as thesoundtrack to ID&T’s newly diversified Energy ‘11 event. • Johan Gielen If there is one artist who knows how to master the detailed finesse of his performances and his interaction with the audience, then it’s most certainly Johan Gielen. As one of the pioneers of trance music he has a unique feel for his audience which reflects in his record-choice and mixing skills. Few DJ’s may call themselves ‘Superstar’; Johan Gielen belongs to this elite. Johan Gielen started his rise to fame at the age of seventeen playing at a local Dutch club, which eventually landed him his first residency at Club Velfarre in Tokyo. When he decided to come back to Holland his reputation preceded him; his career skyrocketed and booking-requests came from all over the world. In no time he was rocking decks at Dance Valley, Sensation, Godskitchen and many more. Up to this day Johan Gielen remains the only artist with 15 consecutive sets at Trance Energy under his belt. Johan has made it perfectly clear that he’s not ‘just the guy who plays the records’ but an all out performer who get the crowds going. As for the productions? Any dance-music fan can name a few of Johan’s hit records. For a while Johan teamed up with Svenson and produced monsterjams like ‘The Beauty of Silence’ and ‘Twisted’. When he was just by himself Johan created hits like the Airscape remix of ‘Delirium – Silence’ and of course no one can forget his hands-up partytrack ‘Played-A-Live’. In 2006 Johan released his debut album ‘Revelations’ mixing things up a bit. Get some trance, add a little progressive, a dash of techno and we have a winner. Mixing different styles was the way to go for Johan which he proved with tracks like ‘My Love’, the chart-topping ‘U Got To Know’ which he made as ‘The Dubguru’ and his remake of Hollis P. Monroe’s ‘I’m Lonely 2011’. To this day Johan remains a busy man. He’s working on his second artist album and a new ‘Global Sessions’ mixcompilation featuring collaborations with artists he’s befriended over the years, producing tracks in a variety of genres. When he’s not doing that you’ll probably find him working on his radioshow called ‘Global Sessions’. This show is broadcast by various stations all over the world and it’s exactly this global character that defines Johan’s career.

  • Paul Oakenfold When it comes to a career the magnitude of Paul Oakenfold it’s hard to encompass one of the true legends of electronic music into just words. For over 3 decades he has elevated and shaped an entire genre and remains one of the leading forces in the global music scene today. His most recent works have taken him from the DJ booth of the worlds hottest nightspots and festivals to the studio producing soundtracks for Hollywood blockbuster movies. His diversity in artistry and ability has earned him accolades from critics and fans alike. Garnering him not 1 but 2 Grammy Nominations for his works. But lets take a step back. The son of a musician, Paul came up as a young DJ in the late 70s spinning Funk in Covent Garden. Not what some might have expected from one of Trances preeminent masters. But he knew then music would be his life. In the 80’s 2 life-changing trips took place. The first in 1984 where he spent several months living in New York City working as A&R man for the famed Champion Records signing DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, as well as Salt-n-Pepa. He also became promoter and British agent for the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. The second trip and more contemporary influence was in 1987 which brought Paul to the White Isle of Ibiza. Here he discovered the Balearic sound that flowed through the Ibiza air at clubs such as Amnesia. Inspired, he took the music and experiences back to the UK and became its ambassador. Paul returned often holding residencies at Amnesia and Pacha in Ibiza. Around the same time Ministry Of Sound in London was opening and tauted Paul as their first resident. However it was his famed residency at UK super-club Cream in Liverpool that brought Paul global respect as a master of his art. It was some say the catalyst to what has made him a touring legend. This residency was celebrated through the Grammy nominated 2004 compilation ‘Creamfields’ (Paul went on to receive a second Grammy nomination in 2007 with his artist album, “A Lively Mind” and then again in 2009 for his production work with Madonna). Oakenfold’s stature as a DJ and entertainer has taken him beyond the normal club and festival circuit, playing landmark gigs that have changed the face of electronic music. Highlights include three worldwide tours warming up for Madonna and U2 (with both artists insisting on a DJ set from Paul instead of a support band); performing physically on the Great Wall of China and two sold out dates playing to 30,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl in California.
  • Paul van Dyk Grammy nominated artist, globally acclaimed DJ and audio architect Paul van Dyk continues to dominate the electronic music charts and appears at the pinnacle of every Top DJ list around the globe. PvD, as his fans have nicknamed him, has been ranked the World’s No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine’s 'Top 100 DJs poll' two times something less than a handful of DJs have ever achieved. PvD is credited as one of the hardest working artists in electronic music, with sold-out tours that cross each continent, headline spots at every major festival, and a hugely successful recording career. With over 3 million albums sold worldwide, van Dyk travels around the world over 16 times each year to sold out performances internationally. On New Years Eve 2008/2009 Paul played Barra Beach to over 1 million people in Rio de Janero giving testament to his incredible popularity the world over. In 2008 Paul expanded into creating music for video games and movie soundtracks. His work with EA Games has resulted in mulitple releases featuring his music on Mirror's Edge and Grand Slam Tennis out in 2009. Paul has also lent his talents to remixing Batman's 'Dark Knight Theme' written by Hanz Zimmer. But Paul is no stranger to high profile remixes, he has put his unique twist on Depeche Mode’s 'Martyr', Justin Timberlake’s 'What Goes Around' and Britney Spears 'Gimme More' just to name a few. His original album In Between released in 2007 and featured collaborations with David Byrne and Jessica Sutta of the Pussycat Dolls as well as Rea Garvey of Reamon and Johnny McDaid of Vega 4. PvD received a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his original album Reflections – this marked the first time NARAS recognized this category. His original productions from Reflections have been synced into major motion pictures such as Into the Blue, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, television’s Entertainment Tonight and MTV’s Cribs, and international ad campaigns for Motorola, HBO, Land Rover, Ski Vail and most recently for Jeep. This year he won the International Dance Music Award (IDMA) for Best Euro DJ. Previously, PvD won four IDMAs in 2006: Best Global DJ, Best NuNRG/Euro Track, Best Producer and Best Mix Compilation for The Politics of Dancing 2. In addition, PvD was voted 'America’s Favorite DJ' for 2004 and 2005 by BPM Magazine and was the big winner at the 2004 Dancestar Awards, taking home 3 awards: Best International DJ, Best Event and Best Music in a Commercial (Motorola). He also won the Mexican Oscar for his soundtrack in the film Zurdo in March 2004. Paul van Dyk was voted 'Best Music Maker' by DJ Magazine, received the 'Best International DJ Award' at the 1999 Music Awards in London, was named 'Best International DJ' by Ministry of Sound Magazine, and Mixmag elected him as 'Man of the Year'. Aside from his musical activity, Paul van Dyk has always dedicated a significant part of his life to politics and social justice: from his youth, when he fled over the Berlin Wall to the West, to his children’s charity in India’s Mumbai, and his partnership scheme with the German Red Cross to help poor children in Berlin. In 2004, PvD was the only electronic artist involved in a nationwide tour with the Rock The Vote campaign, where he joined the likes of Bono, P Diddy, the Black Eyed Peas and George Clinton in campaigning for America’s youth to sign up to vote in the presidential election. He most recently received Berlin’s Medal of Honor (Landesverdienstorden) in recognition of his work with Ruckenwind, a charity organization he founded dedicated to helping poor children in Berlin. He joins a distinguished list of arts and political establishment figures with this honor. Born in Eisenhuettenstadt, East Germany, Paul van Dyk grew up in communist East Berlin. Because his community did not have a true club culture, Paul van Dyk listened to the radio where he discovered his passion for music that extended beyond Techno music – he wanted to create a different, more unique sound. In the early 1990’s Paul van Dyk was spinning regularly at various clubs in Berlin before releasing his first album 45 RPM in 1994. But it wasn’t until the release of his second album Seven Ways which catapulted him into the Top 100, followed by the release of his hit single 'For An Angel,' which began to earn him praise across the globe. By the time Paul van Dyk released Out There & Back in 2000, it became clear that the Berlin-based musician had far more to offer than his signature club sets and remixes that had already defined him as one of the most influential DJs and producers of all time. His first compilation mix CD Politics of Dancing was released in 2001, followed by Global in 2003 – a DVD which illustrates his own experiences traveling the world. Paul van Dyk’s touring diary remains incredibly hectic with regular globetrotting stops at major venues across the globe from New York, London, Ibiza to India, China and Singapore. In the little time remaining between all the travel, Paul van Dyk resides in Berlin where he has his own radio show 'Paul van Dyk’s VONYC Sessions' which airs weekly on the Area Channels on Sirius XM Satellite Radio on Thursday nights at 6PM EST (and rebroadcasts Saturdays at 8PM EST and Tuesdays at Midnight EST) and Soundgarden which airs every Wednesday 2pm – 4pm (EST) on Fritz radio and over the internet (www.fritz.de) as well as Galaxy FM in the UK.

Style, Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo,...” Then he signed to Antler Subway and teamed up with Johan Gielen. Their first production together “Bodyheat – Gonna make You feel” was a club-hit in Holland. His first solo track under the name “Svenson” was “Let me take you on a trip”. Later that year he produced some tracks for “Milk Inc.”, which scored in France. Svenson then continued making music together with Johan Gielen under the name “Airscape”. Two consecutive releases namely “Pacific Melody and l’Esperanza” have since become regarded as classics. Around this time they did remixes for Boy George, Chicane, Praga Khan, Dario G, Vanessa Mae, Safri Duo and Tiësto,... The most successful Remix-hit to date is “Delerium Feat. Sarah McLachlan – Silence”...Then they made a couple of other tracks for the hit project “Alice DJ”. After leaving Antler Subway Svenson decided to work freelance whereupon he contacted Dick De Groot over at ID&T. The first release for this label by “Svenson & Gielen was titled ‘The Beauty of Silence” and later “Twisted” which became hugely successful and earned them both a Golden record. After years of working with Johan Gielen Svenson decided to go solo. His first solo release with ID&T was “Svenson – Sunlight Theory”. It became the Theme From Trance Energy 2004 and it was a big top 20 hit in Holland.
  • Tiesto Whether it be the 250,000 revelers coming together at Ipanema Beach in Rio De Janeiro, the adoring clubbers who descend upon Privilege in Ibiza on a Monday night every summer, or the 25,000 fans en masse at Victoria Park in London, all are in attendance for the same reason: they have come to see Tiësto, the world’s biggest DJ/Producer! Tiësto, a.k.a. Tijs Verwest, is a performer who has transcended musical genres to create a global ‘Tiësto’ brand. His achievements include a Grammy nomination, numerous MTV awards, performing at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and even a wax statue at Madame Tussauds. With over 7 million followers on Facebook and over 130 million hits on YouTube, Tiësto has truly become a universal phenomenon. Recently voted ‘The Greatest DJ Of All Time’ in a Mixmag poll, Tiësto has worked with artists as diverse as Nelly Furtado, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Goldfrapp, Jónsi from Sigur Rós, Diplo, and Busta Ryhmes. When he is not collaborating with some of the world’s most respected artists he is jet setting his way around the globe playing sold out shows to his adoring fans. His recently completed Kaleidoscope World Tour spanned more than 15 months and 175 dates across 6 continents playing to over 1,000,000 people. The hugely successful tour was recognized as such when Tiësto was nominated for two 2010 Billboard Touring Awards and listed in Billboard’s Top 25 biggest grossing touring acts of 2010. Tiësto invested heavily in the visual aspect of his DJ sets including a mesmerizing exhibition of lasers, light shows and massive LED screens. “Throughout 2010 I concentrated all my energy on the Kaleidoscope World Tour. Along with the music, I created some of the best production to date, and it really felt like something special.” Never one to rest on his laurels, Tiësto is more enthusiastic than ever for the new and improved 2011 live experience. The 2011 ‘CLUB LIFE TOUR’ and ‘TIËSTO LIVE IN CONCERT’ shows in Vegas will continue to evolve and expand what a live DJ show can be. “For me the possibilities are limitless and I have once again been working with a really talented team on state of the art production elements. I am really pleased with the results and I can’t wait for the fans to experience these incredible new shows!” Tiësto has also been hard at work in the studio fine-tuning ‘CLUB LIFE - Volume One Las Vegas’ his new mix album released in April 2011. This is the first in a brand new ‘CLUB LIFE’ series that replaces ‘In Search of Sunrise’, one of the most successful DJ mix compilation series of all time. Released through Tiësto’s own Musical Freedom record label, the album features 15 of the hottest new tracks and remixes from the best in dance music all mixed seamlessly by Tiësto. Artists such as Kaskade, Diplo, Hardwell, Henrik B, Moguai, Dúné, and Marcel Woods all make an appearance along with remixes from Sultan and Ned Shepard, Angger Dimas, Alesso, Thomas Gold, and Tiësto himself. “I wanted a fresh new series to reflect my new style which has been evolving in the clubs for the past few years. It fees great to launch my own series on my new label” says Tiësto. Musically Tiësto has been experimenting more than ever before. “You would be surprised to hear what is on my personal playlist. I like all kinds of music and as I continue to develop as an artist I do not feel I should be confined to any one sound or expected genre. I draw influences from various sources whether it be movies, the people I meet, and of course all the amazing places I have been lucky enough to visit. This is definitely one of the best things about being a DJ.” This was one of the reasons he set up the appropriately named Musical Freedom record label. Tiësto explains, “I want to be able to sign artists and release music that as a fan I would listen to. Musical Freedom allows me to do this and hopefully help out some new and exciting developing artists.” Musical Freedom had immediate success with ‘C’Mon’, the massive Tiësto vs. Diplo collaboration that churned up dance floors worldwide in 2010. The track has now been reworked as ‘C’Mon (Catch ‘Em By Surprise)’ with none other than Busta Rhymes who adds his raw and energetic vocals, taking it in an entirely new direction. This new version is a worldwide top 10 hit and the music video has surpassed over 4 million views on YouTube. Additional releases on Musical Freedom include Dada Life’s ‘Unleash The F**king Dada’, Tiësto vs Hardwell ‘Zero 76’, as well as other collaborations. Other artists with releases scheduled for 2011 include Henrik B, Angger Dimas, and more… If you are the world’s #1 DJ/Producer at some point you have to conquer Las Vegas, therefore January 2011 saw the launch of ‘Tiësto In Concert‘ at The Joint in The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The monthly residency will play to over 4,000 people a night and promises to be a remarkable live music experience at one of the most dynamic venues in Las Vegas, “I’m so excited to play in Vegas, it’s a magical place and I’m looking forward to partying in this amazing city!” The feeling is obviously mutual as the city of Las Vegas has named a street ‘TiëstoWay’ and January 1st is now officially known as ‘Tiësto Day’. Always on the cutting edge, Tiësto is also leading the way when it comes to working with some of the world’s most successful and recognizable global brands. He has been involved in hugely successful campaigns with Armani Exchange, SanDisk, Heineken, Smirnoff, Škoda, and he was recently named as the official European Ambassador for Activision’s DJ Hero 2. Tiësto is featured within the game as he takes to the virtual ones and twos delivering a pair of pulse-pounding exclusive mixes and joining the ever-growing roster of playable characters. Tiësto even used the footage of his character from within the game to create a music video for his recent hit track ‘Speed Rail’.
  • Yves Deruyter He started his DJ career in 1985 and played in famous Belgian clubs such as: Globe, Barocci, Cherrymoon, Extreme, Carat, BBC, La Rocca and many more. As so many DJ's he also started an artist career in 1991. Since then he is signed to Bonzai Records. His first single Animals became a big club hit in Belgium. At this stage people started watching artists like Yves Deruyter for playing on big raves such as May Day, Energy, Love Parade, Street Parade, Nature One, Trance Energy, Mysteryland, Inner City, Sensation Black, Dance Valley, Groundzero, Frequence, Decibel Outdoor, Defcon, Gatecrasher, I love Techno, Antwerp is Burning, City Parade, Tomorrowland and much more... With his second single he made a big jump into the German market. Rave City became a big succes with more than 50.000 sold units. The follow up Calling Earth was again a succes with 70.000 sold singles. All this was the start of a succesfull story. A Story About House was to be the next Cherrymoon Trax single, but due to problems with the club it was changed into a new Yves Deruyter single. Unfortunately this single didn't really break anything. Nevertheless his follow up single 'The Rebel' was immediatly signed for the world. 'The Rebel' was a top tune and the real international breakthrough for Yves Deruyter. This single was also the announcement for this first album 'D-Album' containing all the singles from past and future. During this period he started also the musical outlet of the Cherrymoon where he was playing. So far he made 4 Cherrymoon Trax singles of which the first 'The House of House' and the last single 'In My Electric House' was again succesfull in Germany. All this in combination with the first 3D black and white video made by Frank Dewulf who became an important artist with his B-Sides releases. Yves Deruyter's vision of his future in music is and will always be the same: making music for the people. For him it is important that the people have fun while they're listening/dancing to his music. In the past he used to work with Frederico Santini, but the last couple of years his counterpart was Dirk 'M.I.K.E.' Dierickx (Push, The Blackmaster, M.I.KE., Moon Project, ...) who is currently one of the most important producers from Bonzai Records. The single 'Rhythmic Bazz was released in June 2001. This single was taken of the album '2001' as well as 'Back to Earth'. The follow-up single was 'Music-Nonstop', which also got a remix-package with remixes from e.g. Ton TB (Three Drives). His most recent release was 'Spiritual Feeling/Y.D.O.T.', which did pretty good all over Europe. His new single will be a re-release of 'Spiritual Feeling', which will also include a 'Dolphin remix'. He made this remix together with L-Vee (Airwave). So get ready for Yves! Infinity & Timeless Trance After his monster cover of Underworlds classic Born Slippy, Yves Deruyter has been working like a madman the last couple of months. His new track Infinity just released and is already chosen for record of the month by the German dance magazine Raveline. Because of the all positive response, the record will also release on single January 2006, including vocals which are recorded this week. Also Yves mix cd Timeless Trance recently released in Germany and is being exported to the rest of the world at the moment! This cd contains trance classics from the last two years, all Bonzai tracks.
